Death Rap is the fifth studio album by American hip hop musician Necro, released on September 11, 2007 by Psycho+Logical-Records through Koch Distribution. It was the first studio album Necro released since signing with Koch in July 2007.[1] As the title suggests, the album is Necro's return to emphasis on gore and violence, rather than sex, such as in his 2005 album The Sexorcist. Pre-orders of the album were shipped with a limited edition bonus DVD that contained an unreleased music video and six live performances.
Featured guest vocalists on the album include Harley Flanagan, formerly of the Cro-Mags, Brian Fair of Shadows Fall, Adam Jackson of Twelve Tribes, Mr. Hyde, Necro's brother Ill Bill and Ray Alder of Fates Warning. Featured guest instrumentalists on the album include Mark Morton of Lamb of God, Mike Smith of Suffocation, Steve DiGiorgio, formerly of Death, Scott Ian of Anthrax and Dave Ellefson, formerly of Megadeth.

[edit] Background information
Rumors of Necro working on a fifth studio album began surfacing in early 2007, following the release of supergroup The Circle of Tyrants' debut album.
On July 15, 2007, SMNnews.com posted that the album will be released on September 11, 2007 and is called Death Rap. They also announced the track listing.[2]
On July 19, 2007, Necro's MySpace profile was updated to feature a new song featured on Death Rap, "Some Get Back (Revenge)", along with the album's cover art.[3]
On July 20, 2007, Necro revealed on his official forum that he planned on releasing "Suffocated to Death by God's Shadow", a track from the album, on iTunes before the album was released.[4] This ultimately did not happen.
On September 21, 2007, Necro released on his official YouTube page the music video for "Mutilate the Beat", the sixth track from Death Rap. The video was directed by Necro and David Brodsky.

[edit] Trivia
- "As Deadly as Can Be" samples the song "Beyond Emily" by Fabio Frizzi from the soundtrack to The Beyond.
- "Creepy Crawl" is based on the infamous "Tate Murders" of 1969 committed by the Manson Family, under instruction of Charles Manson; the actual murderers were Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian (Kasabian being present but having not partaken in the murders) and Patricia Krenwinkel. The term "creepy crawl" is a term coined by Manson for a game that he and the Family would play. He and his followers would enter unsuspecting victims homes and rearrange things in the house in the middle of the night. The recording also contains several audio clips of Manson from interviews and court appearances.
- Death Rap is Necro's first album not to feature a full-fledged title track. His previous album, The Sexorcist, did not include a track by the exact same name but did include a track titled "The Sexpert". "The Sexorcist" is also referred to in the album's opening track "Who's Ya Daddy?". Despite this, a song by the name of "Death Rap" appeared on Necro's 2004 album The Pre-Fix for Death, which featured Sabac on guest vocals.
- "Keep on Driving" samples a song of the same title from the 1972 horror film Daddy's Deadly Darling.
- "No Remorse" samples the Ennio Morricone score "Dies Irae Psychedelico" from the 1968 film Escalation.
- Running at around 37 minutes, it is the shortest studio album Necro has recorded; 18 minutes behind his second studio album, 2001's Gory Days.
- "Suffocated to Death by God's Shadow" contains a guitar solo, performed by guest instrumentalist Mark Morton of Lamb of God.
- The chorus of "Technician of Execution" uses a line taken from another Necro song, "You're Dead", released almost seven years prior on his debut studio album I Need Drugs ("I'm comfortable pumping a full clip into the wonderful front of your skull"). It also uses a line taken from "Take It In Blood" on the "Circle of Tyrants" album. The first time Necro ever mentioned the term "Technician of Execution" was on the song "Chasing The Dragon", which is a collaboration with his borther, Ill Bill, and featured on Ill Bill's debut album "What's Wrong With Bill?".
