Talk:Dancetracks Digital
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am the one who created this page. I have also placed the hangon tag in the article. The reason why I do not feel that this article qualifies for speedy deletion is as follows: I am wanting to develop this page - dancetracks digital - in conjunction with a page for Dancetracks Store - not yet published, but i will be putting it up in the next few days. The Dancetracks Store is one of the most storied institutions in the history of dance/house/electronic music. In the early 1990s it was the place where all of the more innovative djs - who began developing the sound in new york - bought their vinyl. A number of movies were filmed there, and many djs out of new york still credit this store with getting them started and connected to the scene. Dancetracks Digital is the online extension of Dancetracks Store. It is important for being next logical continuance of Dancetracks Store in the current digital music era. It is one of the few online music stores that specializes in selling music to djs and the dance/house music scene, and is consistent with other such wikipedia pages as Other Music, Beatport, Virgin Digital, Puretracks, and Audio Lunchbox.Bravo November 15:25, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I also have more information that I am working on putting in this article.Bravo November 15:28, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- None of what you just said supplied any reliable sources for information. Do such sources exist? Newspaper or magazine articles would do. -FisherQueen (Talk) 15:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I have found an interview online supporting what I have written. I placed it in the External Links section of the page. I have a few print articles in my home about the store, which I can digitize and put up on the web, but not for a few more days. I will also soon be placing links to this wiki from other wikis, though not for a few more hours, at least, as I have to work at my real job ;-)Bravo November 16:21, 30 August 2007 (UTC).

- You don't need to put them up on the web, just cite them. It would be in your interest to read the bluelinks on this page; not all sources are acceptable. You also might want to save the content of this article offline in case it's deleted, which it probably will be.--P4k 16:34, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- How do I get to the bluelinks? ...I am relatively new to editing wikipedia pages. I have saved the article contents, though I do not see why this should be deleted when the sites that I have listed above are not...? Especially that article on Beatport which is just one long advertisement, and which i previously placed a NPOV tag on. Could you please explain? Thanks!Bravo November 17:21, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry, I just meant you should read take a look at WP:RS, which FisherQueen linked to, WP:CITE, which I linked to, and WP:N as well for that matter; editing Wikipedia will be easier for you if you know a little about Wikipedia policy. Keep in mind that the presence of other bad articles isn't an argument for creating new ones. Anyway it seems like you have a pretty good source in the Village Voice article, so I'll remove the speedy deletion tag.--P4k 17:37, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

- By the way, an easy way to format citations is to use makeref.--P4k 17:47, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
