[edit] Pre Reorganization CLB-2

Just as a heads up, CLB-2 was formally established last year with the reorganization of the FSSGs into MLGs. The information about CLB-2 on the article is relevant, but we should put a disclaimer in there differentiating the two. The CLB-2 that went to Iraq last year was a composite unit established similar to the current CLB-2 however they "disbanded" upon return. If someone can include this difference in the article I would appreciate it. I would do it, but I will be likely to confuse some readers. Thanks... Rob110178 17:36, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

August 2004, CLB-2 particpated in Operation Liberty Express III and camped near the Haditha Damn.^[1]

Was CLB-2, as a unit, over in Iraq for this, or was this something the individual soldier mentioned in the article participated in? Please advise if you know the status of CLB-2 in 2004. Also, what details are there on Operation Liberty Express III? Was that the election security? --Petercorless 19:18, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, checking the article on Task Force Tarawa, I do not see that CLB-2 was part of the TF. What is the organizational history prior to the 2005 deployment? --Petercorless 20:08, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

CLB-2 deployed to Iraq the last rotation. They were NOT around for TF Tarawa. I believe they deployed as a "temporary" (Do not know proper term) unit around late 04-early 05. Beyond that, I do not know. As I said, CLB-2 was a temporary unit than, nothing permanent and it was just for the OIF deployment. CLB-2 officially stood up in its current organization around April/May 06. I should know exact dates since I am a CLB-2 plankowner, but with the upcoming deployment, I barely remember the day of the week. Wish I could help more... Rob110178 22:34, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Understood. Yes. I read a posting on a site that said CLB-2 was the first unit to land in 2003, and that seemed... wrong. Perhaps the Marine might have been with the first landings, but if the unit did not exist then? Maybe it was some other unit, or a precursor to what we call CLB-2. Still, I can't see sending a logistics unit as the first on the beach. I'm sure we'll get to the origins and early actions of CLB-2 in time. --Petercorless 23:07, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
