[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- We've developed a number of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
- The project's monthly newsletter will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—and wherever—you'd like:
- Additional reviewers for the military history peer review and A-Class review processes are always needed!
- Our requests page has extensive lists of requested articles, images, maps, and translations.
- All project members are invited to help with this fortnight's project collaboration.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 19:30, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rates of pay
Sorry if I offended you, but you did not cite that source in the article. Looking at it, it appears to be TA daily rates, the implication of what you wrote was that it was the rate of pay for regular officers - and citing a rate of pay without stating what period that rate is for is not particularly helpful. The onus is on the person inserting information into the article to ensure that it is adequately sourced, see WP:CITE. I perhaps should have tagged it with {{fact}}, rather than deleting it outright however. However, I think most people looking at a rate of pay would expect to see the yearly salary of a regular officer, which these clearly are not. David Underdown 08:08, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] English grammar
Hello Jacob. I happened on your page and, as you say you'd like to know whether anyone ever looks at it, I am here to tell you that I did. I have a couple of minor comments: though you say you are keen on BrE your grammar is imperfect on a few points. (I have not edited your page; that is for you to do.)
- By "underneigh" I think you mean underneath; "neigh" is the utterance of a horse or the beginning of "neighbourhood".
| ’s | Thi's user know's that not every word that end's with s need's an apostrophe and will remove misused apostrophe's from Wikipedia with extreme prejudice. |
You should have no apostrophe in "My main area’s of knowledge".
- In this sentence you have perpetrated a Comma splice and you should replace the comma with a full stop making a second sentence of the last clause: "I am very interested in Space Travel and theories and am currently taking a course in Video Games Development and writing a book, I hope one day to become a lead designer."
Good luck with your plans for the future. Iph 11:53, 26 May 2007 (UTC)iph
- As you've replied explaining the problem adding "I ... would be pleased if you could have a quick look at it." I have fixed these & tidied your boxes a bit (hope you like it). You are very welcome. Iph 13:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)iph
- You said: 'Wow ... Thanks... If there’s anything I can help you with let me know'. On the first: as I said, you're welcome; on the second: I'll bear that in mind! Now, I just went back and checked some of those boxes where you had code instead of templates, which had been puzzling and disquieting me. I have now replaced several lumps of code with the relevant template invocations -- much shorter. Then I deleted the explicit Category invocations (which were not working as you would have expected) because they are built into the box templates. What you seemed to have done was copy the box template innards instead of invoking the templates. That was partly why it wasn't working quite right. There is stuff in templates that doesn't belong on ordinary pages (this applied to all the <noinclude> and <includeonly> tag use which I couldn't originally fathom). I checked; you are now in the relevant "Users who ..." lists. Also, it saves a lot of code on your page. It also taught me some more about how the box templates, and the user category inclusion elements therein, work. Iph 19:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)iph

Hi. There's no need to add any exclamation marks to your edit summaries—they don't convey any useful information. Cheers. —Michael Z. 2007-08-20 12:53 Z —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 12:53, August 20, 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Page
The page i created "blue at blue" was a redirect (i may of made a mistake while making it) i made it because the turm blue on blue "which derives from military exercises where NATO forces were identified by blue pennants, hence blue" could be mistyped or interprated this way as the turm means firing at friendlys and i thought it could be usefull --Climax-Void

- Oh. Really? Ok. It seemed like a sort of vandal thing to do... you should probably make a hangon and explain yourself on the talk page. And the explation marks in your edit summaries really doesn't help me properly evaluate you, and looks kinda childish... so you should probably stop that. But that's just my opinion. Sorry for the mis-tagging of the page! Gscshoyru 21:33, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Clumsy edit
Your edit [1] of Oct. 31 to the Bayonet article was very clumsy. Please pay more attention in the future and take more care:
1. The Commonwealth of Nations has not been "The British" for over fifty years now.
2. Do not put links into section headings. The reason you don't see that in Wikipedia is because it has been hashed out and agreed to in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (WP:MOS, WMoS).
3. You broke a link, despite an explicit warning. The section heading has an embedded comment indicating that it is linked from the "Human wave attack" article. You did not check this.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on FN FNC. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Tiptoety talk 15:28, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

- No problem! Cheers, The Chronic 16:10, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- The problem probably has something to do with the rendering support of your computer. I can see the hammer and sickle just fine (at least from my vantage point). I would suggest bypassing your cache (Ctrl-F5 if you have Internet Explorer, Ctrl-Shift-R if you have Firefox) and see what happens. If the problem persists, I really have no idea what to do. Actually, I've thought out almost every part.
Tips for you are to just keep on writing the parts you have right now, and write your ideas down ALL THE TIME. To help you with your ideas, carry around a small notebook, or a PDA with a word-processing system on it.
If you'd like to talk further, email me.
