Claire Solomon is a fictional character from New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street.She was portrayed by Emily Robins from January 17, 2005 until July 9, 2007.

Claire Solomon's parents both died when she was eight and her guardian-brother, Andrew raised her.Claire went to boarding school in England for six years before arriving unexpectedly in Ferndale on Christmas Day 2004.
[edit] Jake Valentine (2005)
Throughout 2005 her hair-raising antics caused a lot of grief for her brother Andrew and then-boyfriend, Jake Valentine. Claire od'ed on stolen morphine, she and Jake ran away together , were caught drinking - plus there was the time she hooked up with Jake's friend Noah in an attempt to make Jake jealous. A hit and run accident in which Claire was driving led her to question her behaviour at long last and despite a few hiccups along the way (including a sleazy affair with older Doc, Mark Weston) the troubled teen has been trying to be a better person.
[edit] Baxter Cormack and Kieran Mitchell (2006 and 2007)
By the beginning of 2006 Claire's life had hit rock bottom when she lost all of her friends after her fling with Mark Weston(he was in a relationship with Tania Jeffries when the fling occurred) was revealed,She then met and fell in love with nice guy nurse Baxter Cormack. His committed Christian beliefs gave Claire a new found perspective on life. Baxter and Claire became engaged in early 2007 but the end of their relationship was sealed when Baxter became involved with the Eli Wallace Healing Ministry (faith healers). Baxter eventually left with Eli, leaving Claire devastated.
Her heartbreak was somewhat healed by the arrival of hunky new flatmate Kieran Mitchell. The mysterious Kieran rekindled old feelings in Claire and her wild child side been encouraged to resurface. Sadly, Kieran was more interested in her best friend Libby, than having a relationship with Claire though they did sleep together a few times, when Kieran choose Libby over her she tried to make him jealous by going on a date with new male nurse Joey Henderson. She was left devastated when Kieran and Libby got engaged but that also didn't last as in late July, Libby found Kieran and Claire in bed together.Her actions once again costing her what she considered a dear friendship that was never to be healed.After her death she appeared in a dream Kieran had while he was in hospital having surgery.

On July 9, 2007 her naked body was discovered by Doctors TK Samuels and Mark Weston in a skip outside the Ambulance Bay.At first it was believed she was murder by her ex-lover and flatmate Kieran Mitchell until the murder's of Meg Harris,Jay Copeland,Beth Wilson and Brenda Holloway confirmed Ferndale's worst fear that a serial killer (dubbed' "The Ferndale Strangler") was on the loose.On December 14, 2007 six months after claire's murder, it was revealed to tv viewers that claire and the others, murderer was male nurse Joey Henderson.On March 5, 2008 Joey committed suicide by jumping off the roof of a storage facility after being revealed as the ferndale strangler.
