The Fray
Mr. B,
I believe the user that you recently warned for disrupting The Fray article should be banned from Wikipedia. He has made multiple attacks on the website. He does not deserve entrance into this prestigious community. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrm087 (talk • contribs) 18:12, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

POTD notification
Hi Chris,
Just to let you know that the Featured Picture Image:George IV bust1.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on November 26, 2007. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2007-11-26. BTW, do you happen to know who the "Lord Stewart" mentioned in the caption is? It would be nice if we could wikilink to that article. Thanks. howcheng {chat} 00:04, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Portal:British Empire
Yah, I totally forgot because I told myself to remove the transclusion after lunch, and when I came back, I forgot about it :P
I'm also "streamlining" the nomination and promotion process. For example, promoted noms are boxed in green (see Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates/Portal:British Empire) and failed noms are boxed in red (see Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates/Failed log/December 2007). This system is still in trial and I will implement it starting 2008.
As I told Rudget, there're inconsistencies even in the # of featured portals. 81 portals are listed on Portal:Featured content/Portals, but only 80 on Portal:Featured portals and featured portal's main page, and 82 on Wikipedia:Portal/Directory..... Furthurmore, I find Portal Contents and Portal Directory are repeating the same message using different layouts. Directory carries more info, but Contents looks better in layout wise.
What do you think about my ideas? OhanaUnitedTalk page 17:40, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- We usually use FPORT instead of FP to stand for featured portals. So far I don't need much help because the size of FPORT is manageable at the moment. To be honest, I'm quite glad that FPORT is getting more attention and traffic nowdays. It was not even a popular spot 3 months ago.
- Thanks for your suggestion to make a similiar template as {{FPCresult}}. Honestly I don't know how to use this template because it doesn't have any instructions! I made a little subst template that is very useful (User:OhanaUnited/Featured Portal Notice), it uses the same syntax as WP:UTM.

Do you have any other good articles? If so, please add them. In the meantime I'll truncate your list for the awards page. Death On The Rock
Hello. After reading your post, I compromised somewhat and came up with a revised version that mentioned the facts but in a much more succinct version, I also moved to the 'history' section so it wasn't duplicated in two sections (history & military). Gibnews has reverted again [1], but I'd appreciate your view on the "new" version I made. The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick t 19:19, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations, please help with more improvements
Chris.B, congratulations in your new role as a featured portal co-director. I look forward to your continued efforts to help improve Wikipedia's portal namespace. Along those lines, I am asking for your help. Please take a look at the portal peer review for Contents and megaportals. Just like adding featured portal co-directors, it is a part of a larger portal namespace improvement drive. All of your comments, suggestions and participation in this improvement effort will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, RichardF (talk) 15:34, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
fair-use image
Hello there, you left my a message a while ago regarding a image uploaded by me under fair0use without a rationale. Anyway, when I logged in, the image was already gone, so... Sorry I couldn't come up with the reason in time, and I also wasn't sure what the reason would be. It wasn't a great image anyway, so I don't think it was a big loss. Thanks for warning me about it anyway. algumacoisaqq 02:30, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

The portal you nominated at featured portal candidates on January 1, 2008 has been promoted to featured portal status. Well done. You can view eventual comments at the nomination page. Hi Christopher:
You recently put a Welcome boilerplate on my English User_Talk:AntoineL page, probably because I changed a minor point on the (good) page about the GI-vs-ES telecom dispute. Since it looks like you are an administrador, may I ask you the purpose of it, and more importantly what should I do with the boilerplate now (and in my other User_Talk:AntoineL pages as well), since every time I read it I got the impression that I did forget to put the ~~~~ sign at the end of some post...
Thanks in advance for your hints (on my talk page, of course; but if you prefer, you can also use (French)le français o (Catalan)el català). AntoineL (talk) 10:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

I would disagree with that, and so would this:
- B adjective
-
- 1 Gibraltarian
- of or relating to Gibraltar or its inhabitants; "Gibraltarian customs office"
- 1 Gibraltarian
I'll check the OED tomorrow for a more definitive source. пﮟოьεԻ 57 17:52, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Chris.B - thanks for your participation in my request for adminship. I thought "all-inclusive knowledge of policy" was maybe going a bit far, but I guess what I don't know I can always look up. Your copyedit request
On 2 September 2007, you made a request to the League of Copyeditors for a copyedit on Military history of Gibraltar during World War II. Because of a heavy backlog and a shortage of copyeditors, we have been unable to act on your request in a timely manner, for which we aplogize. Since your request, this article has been subject to significant editing and may no longer be a good candidate for copyediting by the League. If you still wish the League to copyedit this article, please review this article against our new criteria and follow the instructions on the Requests page. This will include your request in our new system, where it should receive more prompt attention. Finetooth (talk) 20:58, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Emperor Kaika
Please help me understand why the specificity of your recent edit is to be preferred over the deliberate vagueness your edit displaced. If a "Reference" heading is construed to include both in-line citations and bibliographic references, I was thinking that an increase in the number of in-line citations might be subtly encouraged. More importantly, the merging of these two categories would seem to give less opening for those superficial editors who appear to do nothing beyond adding tags at the top of a page announcing that more references are needed.
As we both know, there is no set-in-stone format for "Notes" and "References" ...; but perhaps your feedback might assist me in re-examining what is really nothing more than a point-of-view about this relatively trivial issue. --Ooperhoofd (talk) 19:54, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:The-Kooks-logo.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:The-Kooks-logo.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 01:54, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

If you are still interested in the program, please go to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching and re-list yourself under Current requests, deleting your entry from Older requests. Also, double-check to make sure coaching is right for you at the Coachee checklist; WP:Adoption or WP:Editor review may be more appropriate depending on your situation and aspirations. Fair use rationale for Image:Cars_pc_videogame.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cars_pc_videogame.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 08:16, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
