[edit] Cleanup

I've removed the pronunciation key because it seems unnecessary for an article of such insignificance, and in any case does not conform to proper pronunciation format at all. I've also removed

It is speculated by most fans that Caprica was the only planet of all the Twelve Colonies that was naturally like Earth, and thus was the most important and populated world among them. The other colonies may have been terraformed to be like Earth, or took other forms; such as domed surface cities or underground settlements on worlds that lacked breathable atmosphere, or were massive orbital space stations.

because it appears to be purely speculation (unless anyone can provide dialogue from the series that suggests this to be the case) I've also removed

In the reimagined series, many Caprican citizens seem to have adopted a secular view on existence, as opposed to the highly religous one of Gemenon, as evidenced by expressions of such views by two prominent Capricans, Gaius Baltar and William Adama

from the article because "two" hardly comprises "many Capricans", however prominent those two may be. I've also removed

Some time after the attack, Kara "Starbuck" Thrace returns to Caprica's city of Delphi to fetch the Arrow of Apollo artifact from a museum for President Laura Roslin. There she discovers that the city was being reappropriated by the Cylons. The bodies of the dead were being cleared and structures were being rebuilt, but their efforts were being thwarted by a human survivor resistance group led by Samuel Anders. Afterward, the Cylons had abandoned Caprica, as stated by the Cylon Brother Cavil, supposedly encouraged by the Cylon heroes Number Six, and Number Eight, who convinced the other Cylons that the attack on the Colonies had made them no better than the humans they swore to annihilate. Cavil stated that the goals of the Cylons have thus been changed, however the details of the new plan have, as yet, not been revealed.

As these events, except for the human resistance which I have replaced on a more concise format, are irrelevant to the object of Caprica itself and are in any case explained in just a handful of specific episodes. I also removed the zodiac reference as these are explained on the Twelve Colonies article. Plus various other small rewording/concision edits - see edit history comparison for details.  -- Run!  12:05, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

According to BSGWiki it was mentioned in the original series that all the colonies were in the same star system called Cyrannus or something like that. In the orginal series video game released in the 90's it was confirmed all colonies were in the same system, however, most might consider the game non-canon even though Glen Larson supposedly assisted in it's back story development. If they were, then Caprica would most likely be the only earthlike one - as it was the most populated of the colonies. But of course we could have the Firefly argument here since they are supposedly in one system and they have about 70 planets that are "earthlike" in a big megasystem which isn't realistic at all. It was never verified in the reimagined series if all the colonies are in the same system or not. Like I said this may explain why many ships were lacking FTL drives, but then again if they were all in the same system why have FTL's at all? However, if they had colonized multiple systems then a majority of the ships should have FTL drives. They had to abandon at least half the civilian ships in the miniseries. Thats quite a bit. [edit] Page moves

I have corrected the recent copy&paste move, and moved the article on the planet back to Caprica, with the article on the television series at Caprica (television series) and a disambiguation link at the top of each. In doing so, I have corrected the page histories (which were messed up due to copy and pasting). To my mind, there seems little point in using a disambiguation page in this context. To anyone who disagrees with this move, please discuss a potential move and gain consensus on this talk page, prior to moving pages (and whatever you do, please avoid just copy and pasting the content elsewhere, doing so loses the edit history and thus violates the GFDL license under which Wikipedia is made available) UkPaolo/talk 11:48, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

I think the original talk page for this article is gone now. Any chance of bringing it back? Cyberia23 22:39, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
The old talk is still at Talk:Caprica (planet). —Locke Coletc 00:55, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
Thinking about it some more, I think we should leave the pages where they are. Once the Caprica television series begins, if it proves popular, we can consider moving it here and this to Caprica (fictional planet). —Locke Coletc 00:55, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposal to merge

Should this be Caprica or Caprica planet? See Talk:Caprica. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zzzzzzzzzzz (talkcontribs) 18:44, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Capricapic2.jpg

Image:Capricapic2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
