[edit] Project Derbyshire userbox
You seem to have moved the Project Derbyshire infobox template which is having a knock on effect on the project page and userpages. Have you moved it? I'll be happy to host it if you like. Dommccas 12:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ah yes... woops! I have relocated it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Derbyshire/Userbox.
- Sorry!

[edit] WikiProject The Beatles
Your user name is on the “Inactive, or have just popped out for a cup of tea...” list on the Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles page. You can move it back to the “Participants” list if you feel this is not the case. :) --andreasegde (talk) 16:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] My memories wrong?
Hi,
I was born in Thornton in 1948 but have lived in South Africa for the past 25 years.
My memory may be mistaken, but I'm sure I remember the Blackpool tram system extending from Cleveleys up Victoria Road as far as Thronton's railway station. It also branched off at "Four Lane Ends" to Anchorsholme Lane (down there to Cleveleys again) and northwards past the windmill to West Drive (down there to Cleveleys yet again) and to what used to be the ICI recreation club.
Just after coming out of the railway station car park, there was also a right turn winding it's way around the back roads to link with the Fleetwood Road North line oposite the windmill.
If going south from Four Lane Ends - behind the war memorial, on the right going south - there was a tram depot. I think it was converted to a garage whilst I still lived there.
The car park behind the library at Four Lane Ends was used as a "turn around" for the trams.
I've done some searching on the Internet and, whilst I can find numerous references about the trams, I can find nothing about them ever being in Thornton.
Maybe I'm just imagining things. If so, please excuse my bothering you and leave me a message to "shut up". If I'm correct and you need me to provide anything else I think I can remember, please leave me a message and I'll provide you with my email address for easier communication.

[edit] Your userpage
I'm responding to your email here, so that we can keep track of the discussion (and because hotmail takes a few eons to load for me). Sure, I can help organize; what'd you have in mind? Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 00:42, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm... well, i'd like sort of a fun, jazzy layout, with sections leading off to common subpages that most users have. I've removed content I don't really want anymore, and if you could take it from there please! If you need a sandbox, User:Bluegoblin7/Sandbox5 is all yours!
- Thanks again,
- Bluegoblin7 00:54, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'll go play around. What colours are you thinking? Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 00:59, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Blue mainly... but a dash of silver/grey would be nice! Bluegoblin7 01:54, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- How does {{Filefolder}} look? Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 02:20, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeh that looks pretty good - either the blue or the grey! (Or, if you can combine them, both!)
- I'm siging off now until about 11 GMT tommorrow, so i'll get back to you then.
- Thanks again,

[edit] Bye
Hey, I am quite sad to see you go. You have done some exemplary work here on Wikipedia and it would be a great loss to lose a dedicated editor. :( Hopefully your absence is temporary and you will come back soon. Good luck! --Hdt83 Chat 04:05, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The Metropolitan redesign
I never wanted this to happen but many of our members wanted a newsletter so I had to come up with something. This was just a temporary measure and I am getting special help with the newsletter. If you would like to help, you can but if not then goodbye and I hope to see you here and back with the project, soon. Goodbye! Unisouth (talk) 14:02, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I am giving our members the option of removing there name should they not want the newsletter delivered. By adding all the members they will recognise that the newsletter exists, thus if they still don't want it they can just remove their name! Sure you can help redesign it but please don't edit the main page at Wikipedia:WikiProject London Transport/The Metropolitan/Issue 2 until I think your design is suitable and then it can be incorporated into Issue 3 in march. And finally I have decided to use the 'hide-style' template for all uses. Oh and I am working on the February issue here. Thank you! Unisouth (talk) 13:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm... ok.
- I suggest we deliver it manually until we have just the users that want it. If we drop below quota we'll have to stop, and if they find out it's being forced upon we'll be removed.
- I will work on a redesign - so far it's here. THe colours will change, and now I have seen issue 1 i'll add some content.
- Hide-style template. This is very useful, but I would suggest only delivering it in this manner - I have a way of doing it. It's much easier when it's being displayed on the main page to be non-collapsed.
- I'll also redesign the newsletter page if that's ok...
- And finally, can me, you, Tbo and Simply South sit down and discuss also about "ownership" of the project - no-one owns it and i'm getting fed up of childish banter.
- Finally, what do you mean by special help? I'm special, and i'll help.
- Cheers,
- Bluegoblin7 20:14, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- If theres a need for a discussion. No one owns the project and no one should try to control the project. Do remember that it is easy to make assumptions on Wikipedia as you cannot see the person you are communicating with. Being an active editor, editing projects pages are something any project member can boldly do. If the change is potentially controversialm, it should be discussed. Being founder of the project does not give Unisouth any greater power or authority so no need to worry. Unisouth should and Im sure he does edit like any other user and discuss any controversial changes first. Project guidelines are discussed and implemented by the community as a whole who all get final say. There is no single user who gets a final say. Tbo 157(talk) 22:18, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikiair
Your idea sounds intriguing. When you're up & running, I'll add what I can. (Probably not a lot, but... Vandal patrol, anyhow.) Trekphiler (talk) 02:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Good to hear you haven't too many troubles. Honestly, I'm not after too much authority; if I can undo vandalism like on WP, I'm happy with that. Give me the chance to actually block vandals, pretty soon nobody'd be able to get in! =D I had a quick glance at the site, too. Looks like it could be a real resource for anybody wanting air-related stuff. Have you thought about lifting pages from WP? Or am I missreading your intent? Trekphiler (talk) 15:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for the confidence. I'll get back to you ASAP. I watch a few pages in aviation, so I'll cut & paste 'em if they're not on WA already. You might post a request for that on the WP Aviation talk page; I'll bet you'll find a few people who'll take the trouble who've got a longer list than me. Also, if you haven't already, look at List of military aircraft of the United States; you could lift that as a master list, then lift individual articles. Don't forget the "what links here", too; you never know when it'll go someplace interesting.
-
- Don't need to reply, but you might consider if you'll include aviation bios (Don Luscome, Clyde Cessna, Walter Beech, Don Douglas, Kelly Johnson, say, just off the top of my head) or if you want to stay more hardware-oriented. My own preference is for a harder site (less Lindberg, more Johnson), but someplace where a non-specialist can go for everything aviation-related has its appeal, too. Compromise, maybe, is XT links from WP to WA in articles that dupe. Like Wright Whirlwind. I've had Rlandmann be critical of the page as having too much detail for WP; on WA, it should be the usual.
-
- Well, since I'm here most days, if you get in a jam, message me, & I'll come. No guarantee I can help, tho =D...but I will give it my best. Trekphiler (talk) 19:23, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
