Bloomingdale is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States, approximately 25 miles west of Chicago. The population was 21,675 at the 2000 census.

Stratford Square Mall, located at Army Trail Road and Gary Avenue, is the largest of Bloomingdale's shopping centers. The indoor, landscaped mall contains five major department stores and more than 150 specialty shops and restaurants. Also, Old Town Bloomingdale, at the intersection of Lake Street and Bloomingdale Road, is a collection of small businesses and shops located in restored buildings at the original site of the village's first settlement.

Bloomingdale is located at 41°56′58″N, 88°4′57″W (41.949540, -88.082564)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 6.8 square miles (17.6 km²), of which, 6.8 square miles (17.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.59%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 21,675 people, 8,219 households, and 5,662 families residing in the village. The population density was 3,204.1 people per square mile (1,238.0/km²). There were 8,399 housing units at an average density of 1,241.6/sq mi (479.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 85.37% White, 2.57% African American, 0.12% Native American, 8.84% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.50% from other races, and 1.58% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.96% of the population.

There were 8,219 households out of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.4% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the village the population was spread out with 21.7% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.4 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $67,365, and the median income for a family was $78,889. Males had a median income of $52,729 versus $35,827 for females. The per capita income for the village was $30,941. About 1.8% of families and 2.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.6% of those under age 18 and 3.0% of those age 65 or over.
