Now it does pass. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do to get the article up to Featured Article status, but it's a good start. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 22:05, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

The fact this encyclopedia can contain a lot more stuff than a "traditional" encyclopedia such as Britannica is not a free pass to add articles on everything that ever existed. There are notability criteria. You must also provide reliable sources. You might want to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 20:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

1541 Ultimate deletion

Can you please atleast tell me WHAT is wrong about my article on the 1541 Ultimate before you delete it without discussion, so I could improve on it? What kind of community is that? If you consider it irrelevant: Do you know how many articles on c64 peripherals there are already right now on Wikipedia?? - DeeKay64

Your complaint shows that you didn't even bother to read the article before marking it for quick deletion. a) The 1541 ultimate is not "a chip" but a cartridge for the Commodore 64 b) It is not "historical" but is shipping right now in April 2008, as the article clearly stated..

You may argue with notability, but I've checked the rules on Deletion policy, and none of the 12 points under "Quick Deletion criteria" are valid for my article, and no, "notability" is not in there. So you should atleast give it a "Request for deletion" status and put it up for discussion! —Preceding unsigned comment added by DeeKay64 (talkcontribs) 22:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, check this out btw: "Subjects that are obviously unimportant, but claim to be important: Articles that are about obviously unimportant subjects are still not allowed for quick deletion unless the article does not say why the subject is important. If the article gives a claim that might not be true, it should be discussed more. However, articles with only content such as "This guy was like so very important!" can be deleted per QD A1 because it gives no useful information about the subject." - DeeKay64 —Preceding comment was added at 22:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

I do not understand how A7 applies to my article. a) It's neither a person, nor an organziation, nor "web-content" but an actual product. b) "A7 applies only to articles about web content or articles on people and organizations themselves, not articles on their books, albums, software and so on.". Furthermore, I'd like to hear your stance on the passage quoted under "not quick deletion criteria" quoted above.. If you say yourself it was a borderline case, why not put it up for discussion by giving it atleast a RFD status? - DeeKay64 —Preceding comment was added at 22:42, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Your crystal-ball criticism is just as pointless as your other criticism, since the passage you quoted is under the "Present and future devices" section (which I did not add!). Also, it is not the least bit "speculation" but a very real product that I held in my hand already in February (an independant review from December was linked in the 1541u article, another proof you didn't even bother to read it before deletion!), in fact I will get mine next week. I did put it up for deletion review, but rest assured that you and cobaltblue really discouraged someone who was always willing to contribute for making Wikipedia better... If I have to jump through such hoops just to undo your unwarranted deletion, I am strongly discouraged from contributing to Wikipedia in the future! DeeKay64 (talk) 23:32, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Tony Spinner is a well known back up Singer who is touring extensively with Toto. Wiki has so many other small pages of small actresses like Bel Powley or Kim Wakerman so I don't see why this article should be deleted. i just need someone to help me with it. Jeneral28 (talk) 12:55, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Uhm, isn't that what I just did? --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 12:58, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Niffler

Declined the speedy as it is clearly not vandalism. I always try to find the significance or context or notability of a subject before tagging for deletion. Many new users don't know how to create a viable stub, so I try to help them out by Googling for the info they failed to include. Cheers, and happy editing. Dlohcierekim 13:13, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

--Sean (talk) 02:08, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

You deleted an article on Butler and messel, on the grounds of notability. Since you didnt accept all the books i referenced, i'll give you another fact. Well Messel intercepted the sputnik signal in Australia and refused to give it to the soviets. That is from a page on wiki. Good going, delete an article within an hour while in another article asks for someone to make one about him. I think you should put back the page to what it was or else your gon lose a very important article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fifty lightning (talkcontribs) 11:17, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Look at Mahmut Başar Özer. This article have not written in Turkish for more than five hours.144.122.125.36 (talk) 22:46, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

At first, in my opinion, you can remove the need of transition box from Mahmut Başar Özer. Then, I will start to explain its reliablence.144.122.125.36 (talk) 22:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

List of dissolved districts of Japan

Hello! Back in Feb, you asked me not to prod on this article, but it's still just sitting there in Japanese. I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do with it, but I'm itching to comment out the Japanese. -Yupik (talk) 08:06, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

  • I have deleted the sections that were still in Japanese, and I have added the {{incomplete list}} template. By doing so, I validated the portion already done, and the article is no longer our problem. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 16:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Template creation policy (HasSpoilers deleted for no reason)

Sorry, I did not know about policies here. I come from Literature Wikia and there we have a template {{spoiler}} to include the warning. I don't think which is the case for deleting, explain to me, because I will just include it in some short stories articles that contain spoilers.

  • Isn't it the same than just pasting the whole sentence?
  • Which is the policy? Please say the policy in words me to read a 100 paragraphs article about wikipedia policy. I don't have much time. If you won't then don't even bother to answer.
  • Is creating a useful template being a vandal? Then we should not create them?
  • I was not "testing" but you said me to use the sandbox. It was to be included in articles.
  • Check http://literature.wikia.com and see that there it is not considered spoiling. And don't answer me that wikia is wikia and that wikipedia is wikipedia because I already know, I am not so idiot.

If some of this sounded rude to you, I felt someone was rude by deleting it so fast. You could have said that to me first then deleting it.

And I am not a vandal, please stop harassing me. Being ignorant is not vandalism. Vandalism is deleting articles and including nonsense. My template was not nonsense, I think, it is useful.

David (talk) 01:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

I read your answer

Apologizes but I felt offended to be called a vandal, how would YOU reaction to such claim?

Maybe there is a misunderstanding here, I was not testing, I have used Wikipedia for 5 years for not knowing about the sandbox...

Solution: I would change the content of that to

This article tells the whole plot of the story

and everybody happy?

or I have to link it to User:Davichito/MyTemplate or something?

I ask because I know the next time you call me vandal it could be a ban for me...

David (talk) 01:55, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Not if I don't report you. Rest assured I had no intention of doing so. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 01:56, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. A hint from a Wikia man to sign the peace: don't put your signature accepting wikiformatting, just sign with {{whatever}} ~~~~~. It makes this thing more readable, I guess, IMHO. Bye. Davichito. 02:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Revert article

This is about the These Trails article. Not everyone has time or can focus on an article long enough before it gets deleted (apparently), I just put the framework up there for easier input later, it helps me to get back to it and continue work on it instead of having to do everything at once, which isn't possible for me. Maybe I should write everything in textfiles and save locally instead, but that seems stupid. I'm not mad of the deletion but please, can you revert it? (and put a {{hangon}} tag) Scrdcow (talk) 21:59, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

sunscreen controversy and sunscreen discrepancy

I want to rename the "sunscreen controversy" into "sunscreen discrepancy". I had explained on the sunscreen controversy talk page why this is a better title. Please give me some time to do so instead of deleting my material just 5 minutes after I have started the article. Gerriet42 (talk) 07:16, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I am still unhappy with the title "sunscreen controversy". The article is describing the large gap between the scientific information and the popular believe. This has to be obvious from the title.
So how about "sunscreen desinformation" or maybe "sunscreen information-gap". (I am just brainstorming here, please make alternative suggestions.)Gerriet42 (talk) 07:27, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Why are people accusing me of violating the neutral point of view policy? All I want is that the many concerns which have been written in the scientific literature about sunscreen are properly represented in the popular press. Gerriet42 (talk) 07:38, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Dominationism

Actually, it should have been dominionism, and I have replaced the article with a redirect. There is a page of Google hits for dominationism, so I am not the only one to make the same mistake.

But the article was deleted very quickly. Obviously it was not a complete article — such things take time — but there is no reason to remove it so quickly. m.e. (talk) 06:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

tagging new pages

Hey, I've been basically following you around! You are really fast. A lot of times, you tag something with db-spam that is actually blatant copyright infringement. If you see something that is db-spamable, try copying a little of the text and doing a Google search for the exact phrase that you copied. You'd be surprised how often you find something, and generally copyright violations tend to be deleted much faster than anything execpt attack pages. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
