[edit] Expand

Having read the three mentioned volumes of this fantastic series, I've decided to expand it. Coming soon... VJ Emsi 16:00, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Still nowhere near finished. i'll update soon.VJ Emsi 17:28, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks to those who also worked on it. VJ Emsi 15:32, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I am Flamarande (obviously) and I own three comicbooks of Blacksad (portuguese editions) I have read this article and while I agree with vast majority of it, there are a few minor mistakes which I will correct: Hitler is in reality a cat, look closely at his ears. I know that following the dates of the publications first comes "Somewhere Within the Shadows", followed by "Artic Nation", followed by "Red Soul". But, if you read the books carefully, the order is rather diffrent 1)"Artic Nation", where he meets Weekly for the first time. 2)"Somewhere Within the Shadows", where he befriends Smirnov and then 3)"Red Soul", Nathalie is allready dead, the inspector is his fast friend and Weekly is allready his side-kick. I will present this order in this article on a later date if there is no objection to it. Of course, I will also explain this thouroughly for the average reader Flamarande 18:20, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Again, thankyou. I'll try and add a section on Red Soul and then point out the proper order of them. VJ Emsi 16:56, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

First, I was surprised to find a page on Blacksad at all, especially of this quality. Well done! Second, I'm a fan from the Netherlands, owning 5 copies (3 Dutch and 2 english) of Blacksad, so I guess I can safely add "Dutch" to the list of translations, right? ;). By the way, I've seen scans of Blacksad "shorts" on this internet site, anybody got ideas where they're from? My guess is some comic magazine. DodgeK 18:30, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

you would even be more surprised to find a blacksad movie in the works... confirmed:

Variety posts a lot of hype about wanna-be films that never come to light, and since they don't have any financial backing yet, I wouldn't count on it being official until an actual animation studio signs up, a full script and storyboard is produced, voice actors are signed, and Dargaud makes an announcement. Also, I removed the comment about an English translation being scheduled for November 2006, because as far as I know there isn't one. Cite an information source, because I think that date is for Public Square Books' release of the Spanish edition in North America. TomT 11:58, 10 October 2005 (CST)

I agree, no buzz, not even a whisper ever since the article was published. Don't expect the movie too come out anytime soon, in fact it would be much better not to expect anything at all since the said director "Louis Leterrier" is busy doing "Hulk 2", it would be years before the project would take of. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0504642/ .

Let's hope that the buzz created by a Blacksad movie will make someone publish an English translation for Red Soul, I have managed to get my hands only on the spanish edition and my spanish isn't very good...

To whoever posted that last paragraph - I wrote my own English translation based on the French edition; I can send you a copy. [edit] Species description

I noticed someone changed the species of the assassin in Red Soul from crocodile to gavial. Looking at the pictures of gavials, I can see that this is the species the art was probably based on, but the text of the original French comic itself has Smirnov referring to him as a crocodile. Which way should it go? Because if we really want to get overly technical, Weekly should be listed as a stone marten. TomT 9:03, 12 May 2007 2005 (CST)

[edit] French or Spanish?

Why does the article call Blacksad a French comic book series, when both authors are in fact Spanish? --The Wild Falcon 14:16, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Youre right, an unnecessary error. Fixed. Murghdisc. 22:56, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
