Unassessed LGBT articles
Any way to change your User:Belovedfreak/monobook.js so it doesn't show up on Category:Unassessed LGBT articles? -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 23:04, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hey - not a problem :) I'm not an expert at javascript code, but I bet if you changed the line in your monobook from
assessmentMyTemplateCode = ["{{WPBiography|class=|importance=}}","{{AfricaProject|class=}}","{{film|class=}}","{{LGBTProject|class=}}","{{Ethnic groups|class=}}"];
to
assessmentMyTemplateCode = ["{"+"{WPBiography|class=|importance=}}","{"+"{AfricaProject|class=}}","{"+"{film|class=}}","{"+"{LGBTProject|class=}}","{"+"{Ethnic groups|class=}}"];
that would take care of it. Suggest that on the Outriggr script page and see what they say. Happy editing :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 13:54, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you
What a big welcome, thank you.--Tones benefit 12:49, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Gidday
Groovy name - this paint-by-numbers-life is fucking with MY head too :)
Anyway, thought I'd let you know that those funny questions marks added by User:Timboeun that you reverted from a list of articles were actually Khmer Script. On systems that don't display Unicode they appear as a row of question marks. It's actually quite difficult to get Khmer literate editors who can be bothered to add the script. It's an easy mistake to make and I'll revert your edits, but I do think you owe a new user an apology for that mistake (you might want to remove the Vandal 1 warning you left as well). Cheers, Paxse 16:38, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

List of LGB people
I just wanted to thank you for working on our lists. I had overly optimistic hopes about my ability to complete it before I ended up on this godforsaken Island, though I still harbour a lingering desire that we can all pull it together before the end of August. So thankyou, and I hope the process has been as enlightening to you as it has to me (reading about fashion designers and corporate business in the paper has become marginally more interesting now I can amuse myself picking out the gays). Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 09:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Slater
I know you meant well by adding that info about Nigel Slater, but we're having what may potentially be a bit of a legal problem with that. I'm removing it from the article and locking it down - for now; please don't take this as any sort of criticism. It's an m:OTRS thing.
I expect that this will be cleared up quite soon. DS 16:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Monthly Challenge: Submit an article to our Jumpaclass competition! Languishing unloved, it is a great way to improving that article you always meant to improve but never got round to. Challenge someone else to go head to head and see who can improve their article most!
- Article News
- Project News
- Our Deputy Coordinators have been doing a fabulous job so far. Well done!
- The portal is now looking very snazzy, well done to Fireplace for all his hard work.
- The list of LGBT people to be sorted has now beed reduced by 20%. Please help us with it, all of us adding just one person a day would have a dramatic effect!
- The Core Topics is now largely complete. The original aim of getting some kind of publication out of it is extremely long term - any short term uses we can make of it are welcome on the project talkpage.
- A suggestion was made this month that we start our own wiki. Although the conclusion was that we felt we were a part of Wikipedia rather than a stand alone organisation, it seems there is an LGBT wiki already, at http://lgbt.wikia.com/wiki/Main_page . Members may be interested in getting involved there.
- The Collaboration is now getting rather short on suggestions. Article nominations for August through December would be welcome on the talkpage.
- There is now a list of Missing LGBT Topics. Help is needed to work out which topics can be made redirects or need to be created. Please contribute is you can.
- An LGBT banner that was created for Wikipedia's internal ads system has now been adapted so it can be placed on blogs and websites. The html is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:LGBT"><img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/Qxz-ad48.gif" height="53" width="445"></a> Please credit Miranda and link to her userpage: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Miranda">Miranda</a>. The banner can be seen in action here. If you have a blog or a website, please consider adding the banner, either in a post or as part of your profile.

- 11 new contributors joined the project in the last month: Xnuala, Samantha Pignez, Jreferee, BGMurph, jmsast, Kukini, Theinsidellama, Heyfoureyes, Iceflow, NickGorton, Lynnllynn, KaiLeo, Amadscientist, and Mad_Cheese_Eater. Please make them feel welcome
! However, this is a bit low for a project of our standing, so please consider doing a little recruiting if you can.

your message to me about why you deleted my post on Kids in Trouble Help Page
Hi, Im really not sure if I am doing this right, may I suggest that you explain exactly how to reply better in your welcome to me and notice of deleting my link, user talk Endabusenow This is not a simple thing like replying to an email. In short when I checked my watched pages I see this message from you, on a page called user talk with my name Endabsenow and it says "Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising in articles. For more information on this, see" Ok so I went to all those links on spam including the one about external links, I am not in violation of anything, the link I posted to the Kids in Trouble Help Page is not advertising or promotional. It is an important and very relavant link to the cause, and is important to kids and teens suffering from depression, child abuse, suicidal thoughts, etc. I would very much appreciate you returning the link to where it was. please reply to me on my user talk page, or here if it will show up to me somewhere that you reply here. Thanks again. I will use those four squiggly lines you suggested Endabusenow 11:12, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

- Two new templates are available for assisting in adding fair use rationales for film-related images that need them. Template:Filmrationale can be included on the image page for posters, screenshots, and VHS/DVD covers while Template:Filmbiorationale can be used for deceased actors. By adding fair use rationales for the many images the project includes, we can help ensure that various images are not deleted for lacking a FUR.
- List of American films has been developed, and could currently use some assistance in developing each of the years, beginning in the 1890s to 2009. Each year needs to have the list of films converted to wikilinks within tables that also contain the director, cast, and genre of the film. Consider tackling a year or assisting in sorting a few films when you have the time.
- After a discussion on the main project talk page, a policy was proposed and discussion started on its talk page. This policy, Wikipedia:Citing IMDb, was later rejected by the community. However, please keep in mind that certain aspects of it can be taken into account by article writers as guidelines.

questions on past discussion
Hi Beloved, don't know if you remember me anymore, but you had deleted my external link to the kids in trouble help page maybe half a month ago? Now I wanted to go back to a past version and include all that was written on the subject then but I became afraid that everything else updated since would become lost. Is this true? Should there not be a way to just rectify old information without losing new stuff. Anyway I did not wish to take the chance. Now you were helpful to me and sent me some guidlines on wiki which I finally have been reading, including external links.
first can I ask you a few questions. Wiki is user edited, every editor has the same status right? (in theory if people are rude it can go back and forth, like lets say I beleve coke tastes like pepsi but another editor disagrees so he can keep deleting my post and I can keep posting it, but that is silly there has got to be a better way! or are there certain editors with official rights for certain pages? It seems to me that since this is completely user edited unless something is spam or in violation of guidelines, nobody should remove delete another persons edit.Of course there can also be a disagreement of what violates guidelines. I know I asked a lot of questions here but I would appreciate if you explain on my talk page, not just send me some wiki help, because it's not clear.
2nd I very much like your anti domestic abuse (what do you call those square things) how do I get one? Also may I suggest you put one up for child abuse too - that is just as important as children are our future.
3rd finally I'm not sure 100% which page you deleted stuff from, I think it was the depression page?? I have read the guidelines on editing external links, my link is not promotianal nor is it commercial, I want to reach kids and help as many kids and teens as possible. and encourage them to get help when they need it. I remembe you told me to imagine that it might not belong in the Britanica, but looking in thos guidelines for external links and looking at many many wiki pages, there are olmost always external links to appropriate related pages.
I will post a shortened text link here and will ask you to reinclude it. in addition to explaining me what I asked above, I do appreciate your time. the link will follow. Endabusenow 06:32, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
the link
Hi, I was just wondering why you removed the LGBT Project tag from the talkpage of the Stephen Daldry article? There was no reason to, Daldry is gay, as is mentioned, with references, on his article page. As a result he falls within the scope of the LGBT Project and removing the tag is unhelpful. Also, could you please use edit summaries (with something more helpful than "ce") so people know why you're doing things? Thanks, --Beloved freak 17:39, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Beloved, I was trying to edit pages that an anon ip had added the category LGBT Directors without sources for. It happen about 8 months ago and the person hit about 30 pages. Sorry if I reverted in error and sorry about my poor edit summary. It seems that this person had some type of agenda, good or bad, it really doesn't matter. As long as the material is properly sourced and relevant it should stay, otherwise not. Cheers! --Tom 17:44, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for your reply, no problem. --Beloved freak 17:54, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- PS. I'm just going through some of your recent edits to see if I can restore any more. I agree that articles should not contain contentious statements or categories without sources. There is actually an ongoing mini project within the LGBT project to make sure that everyone with LGBT-related categories, or with statements saying they're gay etc, have proper references. Just letting you know in case you noticed I was editing pages you've just edited and thought I was stalking you! Cheers, --Beloved freak 17:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hey Beloved, no problem at all. An extra set of eyes is always welcomed :). Like I said, I was trying to revert articles that this anon IP had hit up pretty hard. I have absolutely no horse in this race either way except that I really don't like to see unsourced material especially when it concerns one's religion or sexual preferences since these are very personal and usually private matters, however not all the time. Cheers! --Tom 18:03, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
thank you beloved freak kithp endabusenow
Hi, BF, I read your message on my talk page and really wanted to thank you. You have really been very helpful. I will reply to a few of the subjects one by one. Thank you for agreeing not to remove it if I put it back but the truth is that I am going to take an honest and fair look at the clinical depression page, it could be it does not belong there. I recall being more upset that it was removed from some more pertinant pages. Interesting what ou showed me about such trivial argments but living in this world makes me believe that so many people just like to argue, so unfortunately that comes to wiki too I guess. I won't go back to past edits I don't want to mess anything up, although I think they should fix the system so that you can only make that one particular thing as it was without losing other stuff...no worries..I haven't yet had a chance to look into things like userboxes more yet but I will. I also have not gotten to look much into the being adopted but as soon as I have a chance I will, and frankly even though I had been upset about you, I also think you were fair, and you have also been very very helpful, I have a lot of stuff I am interested in with wikepedia, wiki and answers.com are two of my fav places to go when i want to look something up. And wiki is especially great with the editing, when I have more time and I finish with my kids help page, I have some other topics I want to look up out of my neverending curiousity, like how suburban areas and houses even the look and size of gardens compare in different countries - weird huh? anyway I got off topic here but so like yea If i choose to be adoped I'm pretty darm sure i'd choose you, that is if you'd be happy to take me. Thanks again Endabusenow 14:45, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Rebound (heh)
A specific link had popped up on my watchlist that was spamming a specific website, and I tracked that user's contributions as well as the existence of that link elsewhere on Wikipedia. At Bound, it didn't seem to qualify as a reliable source (as there ought to be much more respectable reviews from which to choose). If you still feel that the link has merit despite what I've told you, feel free to restore it. I just tend to oppose linkspam in the fullest sense when I see that someone is indiscriminately posting a specific site's film review across the board. — Erik (talk • contrib) - 04:05, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Since you seem to be the primary contributor to List of French language films, do you know how it is different from List of French films? (Please reply at Talk:List of French language films.) panda 15:16, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

- Since the last newsletter was released, we have had more members been labelled inactive than who have signed up - please consider recruiting a few more people if you can, a WikiProject is only as good as its members. :)

End of WP:Bio assessment drive
I have reraised the issue (see towards the bottom) as to whether assessors should receive all the awards they qualify for or only the highest one. Your input is appreciated. BrokenSphereMsg me 15:19, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey fellow Wikipedian! Your username is listed on the WikiProject Films participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:FILM editor, please add your name to the Active Members list. You may also wish to add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. We also have several task forces that you may be interested in joining as well.
Also, elections for Project Coordinators are currently in sign-up phase. If you would be interested in running, or would like to ask questions of the candidates, please take a look. You can see more information on the positions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Coordinators. Thanks and happy editing!

Award
AfD Nomination: List of LGBT characters in modern written fiction
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that List of LGBT characters in modern written fiction meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.
Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of LGBT characters in modern written fiction. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.
Discussions such as these usually last five days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Pocopocopocopoco 01:47, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar |
| Thanks for reverting vandalism on my userpage. I think this vandalism on my userpage is very likely to be done by someone I know just to annoy me. NHRHS2010 Talk 19:06, 2 October 2007 (UTC) |
- You're welcome. I gave you a barnstar because you reverted all four vandalisms on my userpage. It was a shared IP that vandalized my userpage, but confirmed by this edit (calling me Famous Amos to annoy me), the person that vandalized my user page appears to be someone I know.
