[edit] Plot
Vinod Verma (Vinod Khanna) is an employee of the Indian Railways, who wants to make the perfect and fastest train in India. After years of dedication, the Railway Board approves his prototype of the Super Express. His personal life with his wife (Parveen Babi) and children is ruined because he has paid his full attention to building the model. He hopes to make it up to them after the train makes its inaugural run from Delhi to Bombay in a record 12 hours. Showing him support are his friends, Ashok (Dharmendra) and Rakesh (Vinod Mehra). Another person, whose prototype of his own model of a fast train was not accepted, Randhir (Danny Denzongpa), wants to sabotage the Super Express' inaugural run. He places bombs in the train and sabotages the brakes. During the run of the train, the bombs bursts, brakes fail, and the train does not stop. Then, cooking gas catches fire engulfing the pantry car and a few adjacent passenger coaches in flames as the train hurtles at breakneck speed - thus the name - "The Burning Train". What follows are numerous plans to save and counter-save the now burning and unstoppable train with all by Ashok, Vinod, Rakesh, a petty thief (Jeetendra), and the train conductor.
