Beijing-Tianjin high-speed rail (京津城际铁路) will be a high-speed rail line between Beijing and Tianjin.
Construction began on July 4, 2005, and was completed in Nov, 2007. A test run was scheduled for the first quarter of 2008. [1] Opening is scheduled for July 2008.
The system will be 113.544 kilometers long, and cost about 14.3 billion RMB (~1.73 billion US dollars). The line will be the first in China built for 300 km/h, and the alignment is designed to ultimately permit 350 km/h. The trip between Beijing and Tianjin will take 30 minutes.
The five planned stations are:
- Beijing south railway station
- Yizhuang
- Yongle (planned)
- Wuqing
- Tianjin railway station
On 11 November 2005, Siemens AG announced that it has received an order of 60 Siemens Velaro trains for this line. The CRH 3 trains will have a maximum speed of 300 km/h and seat over 600 people each.
