Battle Ground Lake State Park is a 280 acre (1.1 km²) park 21 mi (34 km) northeast of Vancouver, Washington, USA, consisting of an ancient 400 foot(120 m) volcano in the Boring Lava Field where a magma-induced steam explosion made a large bean-shaped crater, a maar, which later filled with water, forming a crater lake.
The lake was originally named Crater Lake, but was renamed in deference Oregon's more famous Crater Lake.
The Park is vegetated with mostly evergreen forest, and the lake is stocked with bass, catfish and trout. Facilities include a swimming area and a boat launch ramp. Bridle trails ring the lake and criss-cross the summit area. Paddleboats may be rented for $10[1] hourly.
There are a few small bass present, and catfish, but trout fishing is the main attraction for anglers, especially on opening day.
The property at the lake is now a Washington State Park, but it was formerly owned by the Dollars, a local family for which Dollars Corner, a nearby intersection, was named.
There was a lodge and store on the shore, along with a large dock area from which boats could be rented. There was also a large wooden waterslide.
Camping information
The park has 25 standard campsites, six hookups sites, four cabins, 15 primitive sites that require campers to hike .25 to .5 mile from the parking lot, one RV dump station, two restrooms and four showers. Maximum site length is 50 feet (may have limited availability).
Group camp has four adirondack (three-sided) shelters that each sleep eight people. The camp offers a covered cooking and meeting area, a group fire ring, room for 32 people in tents and two pit toilets. Due to a small, unlevel parking area, RVs are not allowed in this camp. There is a minimum group size of 25 people.
A horse camp is available by reservation. It is primitive with no water on the site. Occupancy is four families. Horse camp includes four small corrals, one pit toilet, two fire pits and four picnic tables. There is a minimum group size of 10. Do not call the park to make reservations, they can only be done through the reservation line (888) 226-7688 or (888) CAMPOUT.[2]
