[edit] Image tagging for Image:Martin-Snape.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Martin-Snape.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. [edit] License tagging for Image:Snape pic.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Snape pic.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Regarding edits to Jack McGurk
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Bashereyre! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule \bangelfire\.com\/, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 17:35, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Mcvities Lincoln Biscuits 200g.jpg listed for deletion
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy cleared for takeoff 23:43, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[edit] Regarding your edits to Sloan and Crosby

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bank_Robber_Cover.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Bank_Robber_Cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. A tag has been placed on Wikipedians interested in Dad's Army, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. [edit] Bedhampton Social Hall
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Bedhampton Social Hall, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Notability of Country Gentleman's Association
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Country Gentleman's Association, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Country Gentleman's Association seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Country Gentleman's Association, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Fair use disputed for Image:EWD JS P1010006.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:EWD JS P1010006.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:28, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:262329 8c311dac Whtfld.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:262329 8c311dac Whtfld.jpg.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. [edit] Owners of Epsom Derby winners
Thanks for starting this category. I've moved it to be a subsidiary of British racehorse owners and breeders rather than horses. However, as a thought, I think this might be better as a Category called "Owners of British Classic Race winners". The list of Epsom Derby winners forms a list of owners in any case, so a combined category for all British Classic-winning owners would make sense. What do you think? [edit] Emboldening references: don't
I notice you've got the habit of emboldening references. It is IMO not a good thing, and AFAIK not supported by policy, which would instead have you italicise book titles... see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (titles). I'd be grateful if you'd consider amending, especially, all of the church articles which suffer from emboldening. --Tagishsimon (talk) 08:12, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Anglicanism portal link
Hi Bashereye, can you be careful when adding portal links in quick succession not to mess-up the formatting of the page, please? The convention is normally to place these portal links in the external links sections alongside the Commons links or something, as it's rather distracting otherwise and often spoils infobox/photograph alignment. Alternately, rather than having to go through all articles on a certain theme, i.e. Anglican Cathedrals, you could add a link to the related template, i.e. template:Anglican Cathedrals in the United Kingdom perhaps. Thanks. Bob talk 16:04, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- IMHO, I second that. The article takes precedence, and while I wouldn't eliminate it, external links seems an appropriate place. We've just had some London pages adopted by up to six projects - I wouldn't like to see a frieze of portal templates on the article page too. In this case you could add it once, to {{London churches}} Thanks. Kbthompson (talk) 18:29, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of R.A.M.O.N.E.S.
A tag has been placed on R.A.M.O.N.E.S. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Notability of Mark Delaney (boxer)
A tag has been placed on Mark Delaney (boxer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kannie | talk 22:30, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Mike Smitt, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] License tagging for Image:027161 b031e7bePS.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:027161 b031e7bePS.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

[edit] Albert Road Halt
Hi, I graded this article, and cleaned it up a bit afterwards. If quoting a book in a reference, you can use the cite book template - {{cite book | first = | last = | authorlink = | coauthors = | year = | month = | title = | chapter = | editor = | others = | edition = | pages = | publisher = | location = | id = ISBN | url = }}. Just a couple of questions:- You say that the LSWR & LBSCR ran the line in alternate years - do you have a reference for that? Also, the Southern Railway Halts, Survey and Gazetteer gives the name as Albert Road Bridge Halt, the other halt on the line also has Bridge in its title. Mjroots (talk) 10:01, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Images and Wikimedia Commons
Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading your media there instead. That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!

[edit] Anglican bishops
Hello. I'm very impressed with these articles you've been creating on Anglican bishops. They are really good and much needed.
I'm just a bit perplexed about some stylistic things, especially your use of italics. In Cyril Eastaugh, for example, you place 'Vice-Principal' and 'St John the Divine Kennington' in italics; likewise 'St Helen's Parish Church', 'St Michael's-in-the-Hamlet', and 'St John's' in Herbert Gresford Jones. In Michael Henshall we have, 'the Episcopate of Warrington'. I am not sure why John Yates (bishop) was educated at Battersea Grammar School in italics but Jesus College, Cambridge in Roman. Is there a reason for this?
A more serious point is that in a couple I have changed references to being a "full bishop" to "diocesan bishop". When a bishop is consecrated, whether as an archbishop, diocesan, suffragan, coadjutor, or any other kind of bishop, he (or in some Churches she) becomes a full bishop. On translation from a suffragan see to a diocesan see a bishop acquires greater administrative powers and in England the right, either by virtue of holding a particular see or when a vacancy occurs, of sitting in the House of Lords, but there is no further ordination or consecration. A suffragan bishop is, for example, just as capable as a diocesan bishop in the ordination of priests and deacons. So I think you might want to steer clear of the term "full bishop" or "full episcopate" in the future. Many people make a similar mistake with ordination to the priesthood, saying something like, 'He was ordained deacon at Petertide 1980 and became a full priest at the same time next year', suggesting that a deacon is half a priest rather than an order of ministry in its own right (not that this is a mistake you have made). I suppose what I am saying is that the episcopate is an order of ministry and should not be confused with the offices held by different persons within that order.
As in Timothy John Bavin, which I have changed, along with some other errors with dates (assuming my Crockford is accurate), you refer several times to somebody having taken Holy Orders at a theological college rather as though he were a solicitor taking articles. I think it would be better to say that somebody studied for ordination at theological college and took Holy Orders at the ordination service, which usually does not take place in the college, though of course it could.
But apart from these little quibbles, I think the articles are brilliant and I'm quite astonished that you seem to have all the newspapers to hand, even to the point of stating the exact column in which the original article appeared!--Oxonian2006 (talk) 02:25, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- I also echo the thanks - could you possibly mark the talk pages with {{anglicanismproject}} as you create them as this will help encourage a wider audience to keep an eye on them, and improve the articles. Indeed, come and join us at WP:Anglicanism. David Underdown (talk) 17:28, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

May I echo Oxonian2006's comment's above: well done.
I think you deserve one of these too:

[edit] Michael Lewis (bishop)
Hello again. I hope I have done the right thing with Michael Lewis (bishop). He was previously under Michael Owen (bishop). However, in Crockford and Who's Who as well as on the diocesan website it gives his name as Michael Lewis. I just thought I should let you know as it's quite a big change!--Oxonian2006 (talk) 19:46, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Archbishops
My understanding is that your ex-colleague and the Desmond Tutu article are both right. Generally speaking there is no such thing as an archbishop emeritus. A while back it was quite usual for clerics to die in office so there was no need for such a title. Then emeritus titles gradually came in: archdeacon emeritus is a fairly new thing and I think it was canons of Carlisle Cathedral that less than ten years ago couldn't technically become emeritus, though the bishop said they could unofficially use the title Canon (I think the position has been regularised now with a change to the cathedral statutes). However, archbishops do generally revert to the style and title of a bishop, i.e. The Right Revd and 'Bishop'/'My Lord'. In England they generally get peerages, which kind of compensates. Other provinces of the Anglican Communion can do whatever they like, as far as I know. In the case of Desmond Tutu I've always heard him called archbishop emeritus. It's not in his Crockford entry because no emeritus appointments are, but my 2002/03 edition still has him as The Most Reverend. I don't know whether he is unique or if all South African archbishops are now going to become emeritus. But your colleague was right. If you should meet George Carey or David Hope, call them Bishop.--Oxonian2006 (talk) 21:45, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Puzzling deletion
Hello Basheryere. When I deleted St George Hanover Square it wasn't an article per se, it was a redirect to the article which had been moved to St George's Church, Mayfair. It was tagged for deletion as an "unlikely typo"; the editor who had tagged it apparently felt that there might be several churches by that name and did not want the article to reflect only the one in Mayfair.
The title has since been recreated and the article was moved back. The article itself was never gone, it was just under a different name. I hope this explains what happened. Regards, ... discospinster talk 02:04, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- My apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I trust this has all been sorted out? -- One pound (talk) 22:42, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- St George's, Hanover Square has been recreated as another redirect for good measure (it had previously been deleted, although I still don't see why...) BencherliteTalk 22:01, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Pointless P1010005.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Pointless P1010005.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
[edit] Category:RAF Wartime Service
There's already a category category:Royal Air Force personnel of World War II (and a similar one for WWI), so I've moved Yates into that, I suggest you put the new category up for deletion as the creator since it is redundant. David Underdown (talk) 16:22, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Better, but I think a more specific name is required - I would rather suspect that some RAFVR personnel served in the Korean War, so sticking with the existing naming conventions (which I understand are used across all services and nations) to have RAFVR personnel of World War II might be better still. [edit] BoM
We have just deleted a bill of mortality article. The content was:
| “ | in 1603 a plage had killed 40 000 peole in 1609.12 000 in 1625 35000 and in 1636 10 000.this time it would kill even more.the plage was about to claim over 100 000 Samuel Pepys, FRS (23 February 1633 – 26 May 1703) was an English naval administrator and Member of Parliament, who is now most famous for his diary. Although Pepys had no maritime experience, he rose by patronage, hard work and his talent for administration to be the Chief Secretary to the Admiralty under King James II. His influence and reforms at the Admiralty were important in the early professionalization of the Royal Navy.[1]
The detailed private diary that he kept during 1660–1669 was first published in the nineteenth century, and is one of the most important primary sources for the English Restoration period. It provides a combination of personal revelation and eyewitness accounts of great events, such as the Great Plague of London, the Second Dutch War and the Great Fire of London. His surname is usually pronounced /ˈpiːps/ (same as the English word peeps), although at the time it could have been pronounced either "peeps", "peps", or "peppis". |

[edit] Suffragan bishops
Nice to see you have an interest in editing the Anglican bishops. I'm going through the anglican suffragan bishops, and when I came to Bishop of Maidstone I noticed you edited the article today (7 June 2008). I've made a few further edits to the article. I hope I'm not stepping in your toes. Scrivener-uki (talk) 15:23, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don’t know of any books covering suffragan bishops in detail. In fact I don't know of any at all. I’d suggest look for books on diocesan bishops, since they are more likely to be in existence. Since some diocesan bishops had been suffragan bishops their suffragan role may be mentioned.
