Bar Refaeli (Hebrew: בר רפאלי, born June 4, 1985) is an Israeli model, known for her modeling work and for her relationship with actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

[edit] Early life
Refaeli was born in 1985 in Hod HaSharon, Israel, where her parents, Tsipi and Rafi,[1] owned a horse ranch. Refaeli's grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Italy, Lithuania and Poland.[2] Refaeli began a modeling career at the age of eight months, appearing in commercials. She had to wear braces in her early years, postponing her modeling. At the age of fifteen, Refaeli returned to modeling.[3] She was represented by Irene Marie Models.

Refaeli began her modeling career before the age of one.[4] By the age of fifteen she was featured in campaigns for the fashion brands Castro and Pilpel, also starring in a commercial for Milki. Refaeli won the title "Model of The Year" in a beauty contest in 2000 and 2001. She was also chosen to be the home model of Renuar fashion network and appeared in their summer 2002 and winter 2003 catalogues. She was cast for fashion production abroad, among them Dim, and appeared in the French ELLE magazine, as well as being the first Israeli model to be featured in Sports Illustrated magazine. The same picture was later published on the cover of Maxim. She appeared on the cover of the March 2006 issue of GQ Italy,and was in the March 2007 issue of Sports Illustrated in a swimsuit and posed with the band Aerosmith as well. Refaeli appeared in a September 2007 Paris-Match issue where she was interviewed by reporter Caroline Mangez. The six-page article had many pictures and an interview about Refaeli's life in Israel, her family and her work. She also appeared on the cover of Tatler magazine for the October 2007 issue. British men's magazine Arena named Refaeli The Best Body of 2008 in its February 2008 issue. Refaeli appears on the cover.[5] She is the new Spring/Summer 2008 face of Accessorize and is the spokesperson for internationally renowned fashion brand - Luisa Cerano in Fall/Winter 2007 as well as Spring/Summer 2008.[6] She has modeled for Subaru, and is the face of Accessorize and the Brazilian clothing line, Besni[7] as well as the Italian jewelry line Marco Bicego. She is signed to Storm Model Management in London, and 1 Model Management in New York City.

Bar admits she also has a taste for acting. She will star in an English language film named, "Session" directed by Israeli director Haim Buzaglo.[8]

Refaeli volunteered once for Project Sunshine,[9] a non-profit organization providing free services and programs for children facing life-threatening illnesses. Refaeli also spent one day helping animal lovers association, Ahava,[10] which has been caring for hundreds of pets abandoned in the Northern Israel during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict.[11]
