[edit] Album Information
"Better Get to Livin'" is the lead off single from the album and was released to country radio in September 2007.[3] It has currently peaked at #48 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.[4] Parton performed the tune on the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars at the end of September [5] and again at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.[6]
The next single is "Jesus & Gravity." [7] A video was released in April, 2008.
The album contains nine Parton written songs and the title track will also be used in the score for the "9 to 5" musical that will have its world premiere at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in September, 2008 and is set for a Broadway run in 2009.[8] It also includes covers of the Smokey Robinson classic "The Tracks of My Tears" and "She Drives Me Crazy" by the Fine Young Cannibals.[9]
The album entered the US country charts at #48 on the chart dated March 8[10], jumping to #2 the next week and entering the Billboard 200 at #17, Parton's highest-ever debut on the latter chart; it sold about 27,000 copies in its second week.[11]
Parton plans to tour extensively to promote the album, touring the United States, Canada, Europe, and reportedly Australia.[12] It was set to begin with a U.S. run in February, March, and April of 2008 to coincide with the release of the album of the same name. However, due to recent back problems she has postponed all US dates for at least 6 weeks.
She'll travel to Europe for the summer, and shows will continue back in the United States, Canada, and reportedly Australia through the end of 2008 and into 2009.
