Santana was born Kathryn Elizabeth Knighten in Miami, Florida; the daughter of Linda (née Lawrence-Knighten), and Jerry Wayne Knighten. Santana has Scottish and German-Cuban ancestry.[1] [2] She is the third-cousin of actor/singer Jim Nabors. Santana attended Miami Killian Senior High School and after graduation moved to Austin, TX. to attend the St. Edward's University and pursue other ambitions. She has two older brothers and one older sister who all live in different parts of the country. Her favourite city in the US to live is New Orleans. She goes by the name "Ava Santana" after her maternal grandmother. Santana stands 5 foot and 7 inches, weighs 135 lbs, has black hair, and brown eyes.[3] [4] [5]

Santana first made her film debut in, Man of the House, a 2005 comedy film starring Tommy Lee Jones. She then later appeared in another comedy film, The Ringer, which starred Johnny Knoxville of the Jackass TV series and its films, Jackass, and its sequel Jackass: Number Two. In 2006, Santana first made her horror film appearance in The Return as the club dancer which was "uncredited". During the year, she then appeared in two episodes of the television show Friday Night Lights. In 2008, she appeared in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, the sequel to Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. Her last appearance appeared in College. She is currently working on three upcoming movies.

As of January 2007, Ava Santana currently lives in Shreveport, Louisiana. She still is featured in the film industry and is still working on upcoming films. Her favourite movies are Taxi Driver, Fight Club, and Wuthering Heights.
