[edit] Holden Ute to be exported to U.S.
It has been confirmed that the Holden VE Ute (pictured) will be exported to the United States and sold there under the Pontiac badge in 2009. The deal has ended years of speculation of the export; and confirms Holden as a "key cog" in the General Motors development plan. The Ute will serve as a "spiritual successor" to the Chevrolet El Camino, which was discontinued in 1987. The new ute will be called the Pontiac Sport Truck, and will join its Australian counterpart, the G8 which is yet to be released.

[edit] Fastest ever Australian car unveiled
Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has unveiled a new sedan to celebrate their 20th Anniversary of production, and will be the fastest Australian car ever made. The new sedan, dubbed the W427, will be a Holden Commodore (HSV Senator Signature pictured) -based four-door sedan which will source its power from the Chevrolet Corvette 370 kilowatt (496 hp) V8 engine. The car can accelerate from 0-100 kp/h in 4.7 seconds; roughly similar to vehicles such as the BMW M5. The sedan also boasts a special two-mode exhaust system, which improves the engine note. The new HSV will be on sale in mid-2008, and will cost roughly AU$150,000. The HSV is designed to combat European sports cars of the same price range, rather than Ford Performance Vehicles which is expected to unveil a 315 kilowatt (422 hp) car later this year.
