[edit] Identity Crisis spoiler
I've added a spoiler warning to the paragraph that gives away the ending of the Identity Crisis miniseries. My inclination is to delete the whole paragraph, and replace it with a note that The Atom last appeared in Identity Crisis and is not expected to appear again in the near future. Any objection? Hearing no objection ... . Rick Norwood 14:34, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
- What's the point in removing the spoiler? By doing so, you also removed a important event from the character's article. Spoilers are supposed to be there. If not, why would exist a "spoiler alert"? Lesfer ☎ 18:21, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
The problem was that we had a long paragraph giving a detailed plot synopsis of one particular mini-series. If we did that for every major event in the life of The Atom, the article would become a book. I don't think wikipedia is the place for a plot synopsis, but if it is then the synopsis should be on the Identity Crisis page. Rick Norwood 22:48, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
- I totally agree concerning long paragraphs and detailed plot synopsis. But I think that crucial facts -- as Jean Loring -- have to be there. Lesfer ☎ 01:54, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
I removed the paragraph, maybe we can write something about it without spoiling it... spoiler alerts are obnoxious. they are warning you but the info is still in the way if you want to keep reading. Some alternatives are doing a secondary page with the info I erased or use the # command to direct the Identity Crisis link specificaly to the part concerning Ray Palmer.
Also, I think it'd be a good idea to separate the atom into either 3 articles or 3 sections in this very page. It is very unconftable...have you ever seen a superhero card organized like that?...that's right, I didn't think so.--T-man, the Wise Scarecrow 06:06, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

- Don't think so. Cray, for instance, is not relevant enough to hold an article for himself. Plus, this article is already divided in sections. If we start writing articles for every version of characters sharing a name in common, this is going to be a mess. Leave it for more relevant names as Flash and Green Lantern - holders of larger background history. Lesfer ☎ 13:53, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
The spoiler for Indentity Crisis should be put back in, mainly because it has such a huge impact on the character. It's not even known if he exists anymore after what happened at the end. To not include it just because someone hasn't seen the issue is no reason, and should be left with the appropriate Spoiler Tag included. If you don't want to know about the info, stop reading from that point on, simple as that. Others however, WANT to know what has happened and don't care about spoilers. 203.214.146.179 10:38, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding "notable powers"
I seem to remember reading a story long ago where Atom was able to move quickly from one place to another by traveling at "the speed of electricity" through an open telephone connection. If I'm not imagining this, should it be added as a notable power? (I'd guess the story was from the 60s or 70s, but this was long ago, and I certainly didn't pay attention to details like that at the time.)

That sounds like remarkbly similiar powers to Air Wave, possibly that was the story that you read, the Golden Age Atom and Air Wave I costume's has some similiarities.--195.171.131.152 10:02, 27 March 2006 (UTC)Lucas
- It's a power that the Atoms (Ray Palmer as well as Adam Cray) have actually used quite often, so yeah, it is notable. Kusonaga 12:14, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] created by?
the book "DC Comics: Sixty Years of the World's Favorite Comic Book Heroes" by Les Daniels (c 1995) says on p.130: (Julius) "Schwartz named the character for his friend Ray Palmer, a diminuitive science fiction editor."
[edit] Main pic is a spoiler
Since the new comic isn't out yet, the main pic shouldn't show a spoiler that a reader can't avoid. Anybody got another Atom pic that will serve until July? CovenantD 05:38, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Infobox?
Why prune the infobox? and further, why to a dead, minor holder of the name and the new one? Choi's a good one, but either trim it to Choi as the current one, or to Ray and Choi as the holders of the legacy of the current 'shrinking atom', or all for holisticism. but Cray and Choi lacks a reason.ThuranX 22:49, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- IMO, it's either all of them or just Cray and Choi. Why? Well, the 'all of them' is self explanatory, but beyond that, Pratt and Palmer both have their own pages and their own infoboxes. Neither Cray or Choi do. Why would there be bias against Cray? Because he filled the role for all of about a year (real-time)? That's ridiculious. He was still the Atom. Kusonaga 07:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Cray was the atom for all of a single extended storyline. Pratt, Palmer and Choi are all series-starring holders of the name. I'd like to hear from the editor who sliced up the infobox his reasoning, and why he relocated it to mid-page. ThuranX 14:43, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- I don't agree with the mid-page relocation either, but I wouldn't necessarily say Cray was the Atom for all of a single extended storyline. He was in three arcs that weren't actually connected to one another. Besides that, it doesn't even matter whether he was there for, say, only one issue. He's a character that took up the name of the Atom and therefore deserves his spot in the infobox. Let's also not forget that Ray Palmer made him the Atom (in-universe though that fact may be), and no, Pratt never held his own series (only if you count All-American Comics). [edit] Image
I know Wikipedia has made it really tough to add copyrighted images, but could someone please change the current image (may, 2008). Certainly the most famous version of this character should be used. I'd even accept the yellow clad golden age version, over the current one! Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.161.55.162 (talk) 21:23, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the 'any Atom but this one' smacks of WP:IDONTLIKEIT. that's not a particularly good reason for a change. If you an find a good, Fair Use image, upload it, link it here, and discuss. ThuranX (talk) 21:28, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
