Ashok Nagar (Delhi)

Ashok Nagar (Hindi: अशोक नगर, Urdu: اشوک نگر) is a place near Tilak Nagar in New Delhi. It was known as Tihar 2 before renaming it as Ashok Nagar. Ashok Nagar is a part of Tilak Nagar assembly constituency and South Delhi parliamentary constituency. Once it was a part of Tihar Village as like Subhash Nagar (Tihar 1) and now this place is known as Ashok Nagar. It is being developed by Delhi Government that’s why this place is authorized by the Government.

Ashok Nagar is basically a refuge colony with the people those who migrated from West Punjab, Sindh and Northwest Frontier Province but now people from Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, West Bengal, East Punjab and South India are also living in this place.

Ajay Enclave, Ajay Enclave Extension, Meenakshi Garden, Manak Vihar, Manak Vihar Extension, Gopal Nagar, Fateh Nagar, Hari Nagar, Beri Wala Bagh and Asha Park are the neighboring areas of Ashok Nagar.

Mukand Lal Katyal Market, Ugrasen Market, Ashoka Market, Ajanta Complex Market, Jail Road Market, Tihar Road Furniture Market, Tihar Transit Camp Market, Super Bazaar Market, Chaudhry Chet Ram Market, Gujjar Market and Bindra Market are the main markets in the area. It has one of Delhi’s most prominent markets like Jail Road and Tilak Nagar Market are near by this area. It has big jewellery shops like Mehra Sons and BK Jewellery House.

The main attractions of this colony is it’s holiness towards the god that’s why it has so many temples and Gurudwaras but being a mix culture colony it is quite peaceful. It has Sanatan Dharma Mandir, Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Gurudwara Dera Santpura, Mahanubhav Panth’s Jai Sri Krishna Mandir or Gopal Mandir, Arya Samaj Mandir, Bahawalpur Mandir and Sindhi Samaj Mandir.

One mall is under construction near Subhash Nagar metro station. Ajanta Mall & the Multiplexes is under construction on the same site where the famous old Ajanta Movie Theaters is situated in Ajay Enclave Extension (Ashok Nagar).
