[edit] Enforcement request
As directed by The Administrators' noticeboard/Arbitration enforcement page, I am providing a top-of-talk-page notice of my request for enforcement of the Dec. 3, 2007 Arbitration decision. See request here. Thank you. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:54, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 2 things
First the reminder:
"Minor edits" do not include reversions or wholesale removal of portions of articles. This reminder is in light of your edit here.
Second, image names:
As per Wikipedia:Image use policy#Image titles and file names and Wikipedia:Uploading images#Technical aspects as well as the example given on the upload screen, the destination image name should be as clear as possible.
"IH-183", "SS-74", "H-5", and "MSH-13" (just a sample of your uploads) are not clear. "Micronauts-6" and "Avengers-6" are better, but still can be improved.
Please, with the covers include volume numbers, even if it is as "v1" so it is clear which series you are dealing with. Also, since the "Destination filename" field accepts spaces, please use then instead of dashes. And yes, you can edit the destination filename so you don't have to change how you save and store your scans on your end.
Thanks, - J Greb (talk) 23:58, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Actually...
- Hiding took up re-opening the checkuser without direct prodding.
- Your edits of late did come up on the project talk page, but not via an admin or me. And I pointed out there the few things I found questionable with those within the past 2 weeks. Of those, only the "Contest of Champions" edit really struck me as a problem because of the 1) the marking, 2) lack of summary, and 3) reverting to an annom that feels like one of your edits and was too recently done.
- As far as the the checkuser goes, Hiding did raise a point that I asked him to verify and clarify. - J Greb (talk) 03:23, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] A warning and a suspended block
This is a warning that you have violated the restriction placed upon you by the arbitration committee at Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Asgardian-Tenebrae#Remedies. You are required to discuss any reversion you make on the article talk page, and in the case of this edit, [1], there is no related discussion on the talk page. You need to document every reversion you make on the talk page, explaining why you have reverted so that users can discuss the issues with you. In this case I am blocking you for one week from Wikipedia. However, since I was unaware this was how the restriction worked, I am prepared to cut you some slack as well and assume you were equally unaware. Therefore I will suspend the block. However, if you make a reversion again without documenting it on the talk page, this one week block will be applied. Please engage with the wiki process by communicating with other editors. Hiding T 14:37, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Blur
Yup, read the paragraphs, and you may want to reread them as well. They are both commentary on on the reasons behind why JMS adapted the character the way he did. That's real world context and may have support via interviews or secondary review/commentary on his (JMS's) work. Hence, tag it and give it a reasonable amount of time. If a cite surface, the passage can get moved to the PH and the phrasing cleaned up. If not, then pull it.

[edit] Arsenal
Hey, thanks for fixing up Arsenal, like you did with Punisher. :) They definitely look better, especially with the pictures. Maybe when I get some time, I'll suggest some more stubby articles in need of expansion/fixing for you to take a look at. You seem to prefer characters from the Silver age, particularly those dealing with Thor, Iron Man, the Avengers, and cosmic types so I'll keep that in mind. BOZ (talk) 02:21, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
OK, I'll keep that in mind. I've written many such article on few-appearance B-graders, so you'll probably hit along quite a few of them. ;) It's also good that you're getting Fair Use Rationales on images (or uploading images with good FURs) so that they don't get unnecessarily deleted. If you have time and the inclination, Hiding made a big list of images that need to get proper FURs before they get sent to picture Limbo. BOZ (talk) 04:52, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- Let's see... looking through my own watchlist. Amphibion might be OK for you. Cloud hasn't had a lot of attention. You might like Dark-Crawler - he's got a lot of potential but I was never sure what to do with him. Maybe the Enforcer would appeal to you? There's a lot of work that can be done with Gabriel the Devil Hunter, but I'm not sure how close that one is to where you're coming from. Grotesk has potential. You might find Hildegarde interesting, I'd say. Well, I don't know, that's a few that I started to think about maybe. I'll look through a bigger list at some point and probably have better luck there. :) BOZ (talk) 05:20, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
In addition to those I suggested above, some other stubs you might be interested in developing:
- Aireo
- Baron Brimstone
- Bereet
- Blackbird (Femizon) (aka Jackdaw)
- Bres (comics)
- Brynocki
- Captain Barracuda
- Commander Kraken
- Condor (comics)
- Damon Dran
- Dansen Macabre
- Diamondhead (comics)
- Flying Tiger (Marvel Comics)
- Geirrodur
- Iron Cross (Marvel Comics)
Many of those were initially my contributions, but some weren't. Will look for more later. :) BOZ (talk) 17:05, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Force
Heya! I don't have the issues, so I don't know what happened in them, but according to this page he appeared in the following additional comics:
- Darkhawk Annual #1
- Iron Man #300
- Iron Man Vol. 3 #79-82
It says he was "blackmailed by Sonny Burch into assisting his use of Stark Technology, sent to rescue Stark in Iraq against Vitriol," so that must have happened in those comics (probably Iron Man v3). BOZ (talk) 18:24, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, that really is a useful index that I probably don't use anywhere near as often as I should. :) Just looking through your recent history list, I bet I could find a host of additional appearances - of course, not each appearance is notable enough to mention, but I'll leave it up to you to decide.
- Unicorn: --(Fantastic Four Annual#3/Marvel: Heroes & Legends
- Master Order/Lord Chaos: --(Secret Wars II#6, Damage Control III#3,4, Warheads#7, Fantastic Four An27, X-Men Forever#1, Avengers: Celestial Quest#2
- Infinity:--Damage Control III#4, Warlock & the Infinity Watch#9, Moon Knight III#44, Fantastic Four III#8, XMen Forever#1, Infinity Abyss#3-6, Marvel Universe: The End#1, 3-6
- In-Betweener:--Rom41, Secret Wars II#6, Quasar#26, Damage Control III#4, Marvel Universe: The End#4-6, Paradise X: X
Naturally, there are thousands of characters to look through, but there's a good start for you. BOZ (talk) 02:05, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Heya. :) It's not so much that you're helping me (unless, of course, you mean to look at the articles I suggested above, or some that I'll recommend whenever I get around to it), but helping the comics articles on the encyclopedia itself. I don't so much need the help personally, but maybe the articles do. :) As the two pat-on-the-back postings above attest, working with everyone to build the encyclopedia is a goal we should all aspire to. As you mentioned to Hiding, you may not be around here forever, and I know I don't plan to be, but if our work endures that is reward enough! BOZ (talk) 15:18, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:RomToy.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:RomToy.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 17:34, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Asgardian. I have disputed the replaceability of this image following the method described above. I believe that it has been tagged in error. Either that, or I'm failing to understand the issue (which is always a possibility). Cheers, GentlemanGhost (talk) 21:56, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks. That said, I must go back and add a rationale to many of the older images I entered 2 + years ago.

[edit] A big thank you
It is easier to post this here for everyone to read...so...thank you to all those who help out on the rewrites by fixing links and correcting spelling etc. I normally just write these articles from memory (it is photographic) and often don't have the time to backtrack. It is appreciated, and we have made some real progress on a number of articles in recent days. Bravo!

[edit] Plunderer
I don't know how well you know this character, but if you can, could you please help me fix up the Plunderer article to save it from deletion? Thanks. BOZ (talk) 18:08, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the pic. :) It's been only Keep votes since the first (of course, that's counting yours, mine, and two others), so I'm assuming just no one cares enough to do anything to this article. ;) Which is just as well; I'll take a quick keep, and with all modesty I did a heck of a clean up job. BOZ (talk) 19:06, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Melter
Looks like someone objected to your removal of a tag on Melter. I've added a Pub History section to give it some out-of-universe perspective, so we'll just have to see how the AFD goes. BOZ (talk) 17:47, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'm beginning to suspect a plot. BOZ (talk) 13:33, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
-
- Wow, one after another... Ego the Living Planet I'm busy at the moment, but I'll try to get to a Pub history section as soon as I can. BOZ (talk) 15:15, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, I saw that one coming (especially after what happened with Melter). It's been going that way on D&D articles for months (RIP Gary Gygax) - a certain editor adds a notability tag, someone removes the tag, the article gets sent straight to AFD. Pretty irritating, really. :( BOZ (talk) 15:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I've finished the Pub History section. The AFD looks so far like it will pass - 2 people for Delete and 8 for Keep sounds like good odds. Melter is similar, but for some reason they haven't closed it yet. BOZ (talk) 18:07, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- I replaced the tag on Terraxia just to keep it from going to AFD (we need another comics AFD right now?) - but if you want, you can remove it again, and then it will get sent to AFD and probably not survive. BOZ (talk) 13:13, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Avengers-175.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Avengers-175.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:37, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

- I can only hope so. Belligerence seems to be common among deletionists. Not all are this way; some go about their business and move on if they don't succeed at something. Some persist heavily and some even try to go out of their way to get the "rules" changed to work more in their favor. [2] BOZ (talk) 03:55, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

I have to admit, I'm baffled. I honestly cannot understand why, after all this time, you still refuse to follow the WPC MOS at Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/editorial guidelines for volume numbers and months. I can only conclude this is deliberate, and it is certainly disruptive and makes unnecessary work for other editors. I ask you as politely and collegially as possible: Please follow consensus guidelines. --Tenebrae (talk) 03:50, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

- Format issues aside, I think the PH is coming along well. I'd like to add a bit more pertaining to Byrne's run in FF (Trial of Reed Richards/Trial of Galactus story) as I had some research on that, but I lost it on another computer. [edit] A reminder
This is just a reminder. Your block has near enough expired, and I really don't want to give you another one. Your edits up until the block have largely been of a good standard, and your behaviour is much improved. I appreciate you are really trying here, and it is appreciated, even if the block seems to under-cut everything I am saying here. What I really want to get across is this: keep to your editing restrictions and no-one can block you. Post a comment regarding any revert to the article talk page, and there is no issue. Also, please don't respond to personal attacks. If you feel you have been in any way slighted, post to Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts. There a neutral editor will be able to comment. Everyone gets frustrated on Wikipedia, and everyone has editors who frustrate them. It's hard to ignore it at times, but that's what we have to do. The one thing you really need to appreciate is that it doesn't matter if information you disagree with sits in the article for a day or so whilst it is discussed. We don't need to be right straight away, as strange as that sounds. You seem to mainly edit Marvel-related stuff. If you find you have issues with an article, it might be best to contact User:BOZ. I'll get out of your face now. Hiding T 17:30, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, no problem. Like I told Tenebrae (which I'm assuming is what you're referring to; and if he does take it a step back and calms down I hope you two can at least get along amicably) I did have issues with you at first. Mostly I'm talking what others perceived as the possessiveness over certain articles and that sort of thing. But as I told him, you do seem to be listening to others a lot more and compromising, and I've had a chance to talk to you and work with you and I've seen you're actually a decent guy, though passionate about what you do. :) Right now I'm working on mediating with an editor on D&D articles - now unlike you, I came to have more and more problems with this guy because he seemed to be compromising less and less and taking more of a hard-lined stance against those who disagree with him. I have a thin hope that mediation will work... Anyway my point is, it goes that way with some editors and disputes, and I'm glad you're on the high road instead. BOZ (talk) 14:13, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- PS, I will also add that another thorn in your side seems to have disappeared for a couple of weeks... BOZ (talk) 14:18, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, AnteaterZot/Lord Uniscorn/other names was banned for using sockpuppets in deletion debates, which is a bannable offense. BlastUlna, I have no idea if he was doing anything wrong per se, but if he did leave then maybe it's just as well. We'll see! Oh, and thanks for the vote, although it seemed nearly unanimous that we need some sort of mediation in that case. BOZ (talk) 03:37, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you know that the Image/Devil's Due Micronauts were basically a re-imagining of that universe, using only characters that were based on the toyline, as well as characters unique to that series and did not include any reference to the Marvel series. The Image/Devil's Due series also came about due to the Pallisades relaunch of the vintage toyline. The Time Traveler Trilogy was a series of novels, which was why I placed them under the heading of 'Other Media'. There was also a DVD 'digital comic', but I haven't tracked down enough information on that yet. The article, as it stands, only references the Marvel series, events and characters owned by Marvel.Rickremember (talk) 06:40, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] image for one-above-all
Hello Asgardian.
I just got myself a copy of "The Book of Peter" (The Sensational Spider-Man vol. 2, issue 40), and was wondering if a low res of the image here could be used to illustrate the One-Above-All article. What do you think? --Waldir talk 23:14, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I just uploaded the image, check it out! Please edit it if you feel any clarification is still needed :) --Waldir talk 11:52, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:CM-28.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:CM-28.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:11, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Balder1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Balder1.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
The following images also have this problem:

[edit] Abomination (comics)
Hi, just interested to know why it is that you think the place of birth is irrelevant. He is not your typical Russian-Soviet KGB agent as is one of the very few Yugoslav comic characters. Given that the Comics WikiProject is attempting to be better than printed A to Z guides, I can't see how this is irrelevant. Mallanox 09:27, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] skrulls
So why exactly did you feel the need to trim all the stuff? I'm only really concerned about the list of skrulls part. You almost completely wiped out half of it.--Marhawkman (talk) 13:43, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sourcing question...
I'm trying to clean up the FURs for Image:Celestials.jpg and was wondering, do you know if this was actually used by Marvel or was it just spec/fan work by Comolo?
Thanks, - J Greb (talk) 14:43, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- At this point it isn't an issue of needing to replace the image, but just making sure that the FUR reads right. And as you say, the Celetials really haven't appeared that much, so there is slim pickings for images.

[edit] Re:Note on my user page
I will read what you have put on my user page. I will remind you that you do not own the Abomination (comics) page. I can alter it as is the right of any Wikipedia user. I will not be threatened, I am an admin so know I am perfectly within my rights to do as I have done. Remember to WP:AGF. Mallanox 18:04, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll just remind you that you mentioned vandalism and ask you to think why I considered your comments threatening. Also you'll note on your page above I tried to engage you in conversation before.
- Onto the main point. I've spent a good amount of time today trying to find mention on the Comics Project talk page any kind of consensus building discussion of why the OHOTMU (or indeed other similar guides) may or may not be used as a source. Until you linked to that somewhat obscure conversation (I wasn't going to find that by accident let alone on purpose!) I couldn't find any discussion on the subject save a small debate that about four people participated in. It should be discussed, I agree, but I don't think talk pages of individual articles are the place to do it. What say we have an open forum? I'm not familiar with the Comics WikiProject, perhaps you could suggest a suitable place to have the discussion? Thanks, Mallanox 18:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Thor movie casting
Should a mention be made about people being considered for the casting of the lead role in the film?. McKidd states that he has been considered for the role in several sources [4] [5]. Marvel has told us that the film is being directed by Matthew Vaughn [6] --- Paulley (talk) 13:58, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Doing the same reverts over a period of one week instead of one day probably is not going to go well for you considering. Lots42 (talk) 09:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Quicksilver
The ideal image is a full-body, three-quarter picture of the character standing straight with no background, with a facing-the-camera or profile picture as the next-best.
Now, compare this to these two.
If you still want to change it, please put it up in talk first.--DrBat (talk) 21:40, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Quicksilver infobox
OK guys, it's hit the point where it needs to be taken to the talk page.
No more reverts. No more change outs.
Discuss it on the talk page until there is a consensus about the image.
I've kicked the discussion off here: Talk:Quicksilver (comics)#Infobox image (Jun `08)
