Rus Stewart, a New Wave, Ambient, and Trance musician and remixer, he is a composer and artist, original member of The Fashion Police, which was formed in 1988, and Nocturnal Waveforms, a solo ambient project.
He plays synthesizer, as his primary instrument. (Some of which are one-of-a-kind machines of his own creation, often "Frankensteined" from other instruments.)
Mr. Stewart has composed many original tracks, and has international renown as an original artist, remixer and producer, and founded an indie record label, Robotique Records.
Born in rural Eastern Ohio, he also lived in the South Pacific island of Tutuila in American Samoa.
First recordings were ambient tracks which had a sound which ranged in similiarity to various works of Tangerine Dream, New Order, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Red Flag, and Klaus Schulze, and in 1988, he began to include spoken-word vocals of the Kraftwerkian sort to his music. Later on, he would collaborate with other musicians, ranging from the obscure to well-known, to include vocal performances.
Currently, Mr. Stewart is collaborating with Shadi Ziaei, of Tom Girl, and formerly of Aastiage, and Scott Romano, and in the late '90s and early Millenium, has collaborated internationally with Chris and Olly Sterio, (Isle of Man, UK) and Mark Wheawill, Manchester, UK) who are internationally-touring Trance/Tech house DJs and producers of Source of Gravity.
He also ran a popular radio mixshow called "The Underground Groove" (from the late '80s until January, 2007, when he went off the air) which featured demos submitted from artists around the globe (much like the UK Radio One John Peel sessions)and has written reviews on many artists, ranging from unknown and obscure, to those of international renown. Also, his radio mixshows included guest mixes from other DJs from around the globe, such as Thailand's DJ Nakadia.
Mr. Stewart also produced extended remixes for airplay on his mixshows, artists such as Anything Box, Book of Love, Red Flag, The Cure, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Depeche Mode, New Order, The Affordable Floors, Source of Gravity, Klaus Schulze, and many more.
A discography includes:
The Fashion Police (1988, Robotique Records)
"New Wave Calling" (single, 1988, the first to get international radio play)
"High Fashion" (1989)
