• Brush Creek Flood of 1977 - The Plaza Flood

[edit] Projects I would join if I was a better team player

I write articles mostly by drilling into what interests me. I usually don't have a master plan. I find something interesting and look for a supporting article. When that article is not there I write the supporting article. In many cases I have probably written more articles on topics covered by various wiki projects than most of the project members. In my mind if I joined a project there would be responsibilities and that would change the dynamic from "doing this for fun" to "doing this because I have to."

Here's a list of projects to which I've written a lot of articles:

• Wikipedia:WikiProject Trains - I write a lot of transportation articles. That's what you do in Kansas City (and when you take the LIRR in New York)
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history - To my surprise I've become a war buff for American wars from the Civil War and before.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Louisiana - St. Louis was the capital for Upper Louisiana. Consequently I've written a lot on period from 1763 to 1803.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Missouri - It seems I've written a billion
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Kansas - I lived in Leavenworth and Kansas City, Kansas.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Nebraska - My hometown was midway between Omaha and Kansas City.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject New York - I've written a lot on the Revolution and the Hamptons
• Wikipedia:WikiProject New York City - I've written a lot on the facilities for trains, planes and ships
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation - When I visit an airport I end up writing about it
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Piers - I started giving some respect to the west side Manhattan piers
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Latter Day Saint movement - I'm not Mormon but it's not every state that claim the Garden of Eden is in your backyard.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Mizzou - You can't write about the state without taking one for the Tigers.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places - You can't write histories without hitting these places.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Rivers - I'm obsessed with all the rivers in Missouri and Kansas
• Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Congress - Biographies work well when Congress gives you a head start with biographies.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Kansas City - This is the only one I actually joined. I haven't quite figured out how to write to it even though I've written countless articles.
