[edit] Summary

Description

Above Bar Southampton 1926 (poss 1925), showing tramlines to the Bargate which presented a considerable obstacle to those trams and all other forms of motorised transport until 1932 when surrounding buildings and part of the ancient walls were demolished. The Luftwaffe finished off the buildings the planners left behind, but the main portion of the Bargate is still standing.
