A with breve (majuscule:Ӑ, minuscule:ă) is a Cyrillic letter used in the Chuvash language orthography.

[edit] Unicode

[edit] Phonetic value

The sound represented in Chuvash by ӑ is a back, low, rounded vowel [ɒ]. It is always reduced, and can occur stressed only in the first syllable of a polysyllabic word. This sound varies in its phonetic realization from a reduced /i/ or [ə] (the schwa-like sound of a in English sofa) to a labialized version of the a in English all (with rounded lips). It is sometimes so reduced as to sound coalesced with the following consonant as in сăтел table, /stel/.
