Please stay!

Is there any chance you will stay with us!? We need all the help we can get in the fight against vandalism. We simply can't do it alone. If your mind is already made up, all i can do is wish you all the best in whatever you go on to do. Please re-consider, we really do need more anti-vandals! Thanks TheProf | Talk 15:11, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Leaving

I'm sorry to hear that you're leaving, and wish you good luck and little drama in the future. Martinp23 17:54, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I would also like to express my concerns now that you've left. AIV just won't be the same. Rudget. 18:01, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I'd certainly hope you'll decide to return too and you've been a valuable contributor here. I suggest that in situations when you are getting worked up, it's a good idea to walk away from things and try doing something different for a few days so you can come back refreshed. Rushing into a dramatic retirement is rarely a great idea when you look back on it, and this page certainly makes worthwhile reading in my opinion at least. So by all means take a step back for a bit, but try to cool things down on the drama front :-) Will (aka Wimt) 18:08, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Emotional blackmail makes you look bad

This whole "beg me to stay and maybe I will" dramafest can only make you look bad. If you need a break, by all means take one. But don't assume any particular length of it. Just come back when you feel like coming back. Friday (talk) 18:10, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Admin coach

Hey, just a question buut did you have an admin coach? Kimu 17:42, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

It usually helps to have an admin coach. You might want to try j137 and se if he'll be your admin coach. Kimu 17:48, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
OK. Kimu 18:02, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Admin coach part 2

I don't know why, but I seem to have a soft spot for you (maybe it's your username? I like your username.) Admin coaching isn't that big a deal. If you truly want to be an admin (and unfortunately you've really hurt your cause this week), there are ways to get it done. I'll help. Ground rules though. I hate cursing. Has to stop. I have no patience for thin skin. Gotta get thicker skin. If you really want this, I'll help. But you're at least 6 months of solid contributions/coaching away from being an admin, IMO. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:02, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Do what you want 21655. If you are seriously ready to "throw in the towel", then do it. I don't believe you though. You like this place. Don't blame your mentor. Don't blame your nominator. Don't blame anyone, it won't help you. And don't say never. You've killed your chances of being an admin right now, that's for sure. Take a break and stop over at my talkpage again when you are thinking more clearly. You are coming off as emotional again with the what does it matter garbage. If you really want it, you can get it. but not this way. This will be my last post regarding this if you make any other edits (from this timestamp) that are negative, crude, or high-drama. Last change offer from me. (take it) Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:14, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
hee. Typing to fast. I meant "Last chance offer". Right now, my first bit of admin coach advice is to go outside and don't log into wikipedia for 24 hours. See you tomorrow.  :)

And as extra motivation for you: User:TenPoundHammer is currently running his 5th nomination. This year. 1-4 failed miserably. #5, so far, has 98% support. Never say never. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:21, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Your wikibreak box on your userpage comes across pompous and arrogant. You should change it. Wikipedia can survive without you. Just being blunt, but we (Wikipedia) are not "short-handed" without you. That doesn't mean your contribs are not helpful, BTW. My .02. See you when you get back. Are you thinking a week? Month? Day?Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:40, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the diatribe. Wow. You've made your point and intentions loud and clear. I'm sorry I offered and sorry I attempted to defend you. I won't bug you again. Funny though, this most recent "reaction" is exactly what you promised you'd never do again in your self-nom intro to RfA two. But you're right. Everyone else is wrong. That darn RfA shoulda passed. Frankly, with a wiki-temper like that (and I don't give a rat what you've got going in real life), I'm glad you can't block anyone, vandal or not. Have fun with huggle. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 14:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC) PS. Your Derhexer joke made me laugh out loud. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 14:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

The Derhexer reference in the middle of your italic ...Revert and issue user warning. Next item. Vandalism. Revert and issue user warning. Next item. Nope. Next item. Vandalism. Rev--WTF, DerHexer? Next item. Vandalism.... cracked me up. That's all I was saying. Well, obviously that's not all I was saying. Just trying to be positive. When you said in your RfA that your (and I'm using your words here) acting like a child, threatening retirement was uncalled for, and then later I apologize sincerely, and solemnly affirm that will NEVER happen again, I assumed you meant the whole flipping out thing, not just the fake retirement. My bad. Beyond this post, I have no further interest in "waxing poetic" about your feelings of adminship/RfA. You've made your intentions clear and I'm moving on. We both have better things to do. Later, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 15:04, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Hey, keep your chin up! Failed RFA's are hard, but the truly great editors, take it in stride. If you come back for an RFA several months from now, you have proven that your temper issues have subsided and that you handle the pressure, there is a possibility that it could pass! I do kindly ask that you lighten the tone of your away message, it really wont help your cause, i promise. Trust me, ive been in your shoes before, it is hard and disheartening but keep your chin up and im sure itll sort it self out! Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 21:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the way things turned out in your 2nd RfA

Sorry for the way things went. Sorry I didn't warn you that RfA is akin to a Congressional confirmation hearing. I'm sure that, in time, you'll get the mop sooner or later. Good luck on your break. Cheers, Glacier Wolf 22:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Happy First Day of Spring!

Vandalism? No, but still wrong

A revert can be done to anything that's incorrect, not just vandalism. Las Vegas is a series, it is no longer a first run series, but it's still a series. All television series should say "is" not "was." My edit was correct as was my revert of yours. IrishLass (talk) 19:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I see. Sorry! See, the finale aired already, so I thought that edit was good faith... Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 19:47, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
So what was my revert?? LOL. No, even though it went off the air on NBC, it still airs on TNT and is a series of DVDs. A series will always be a series. All in the Family is a television series that was on in the 70's. See? An edit can be good faith and still be wrong.IrishLass (talk) 19:49, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
I see. Sorry for the inconvenience. Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 19:51, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Brisingamen

The edits you made at the above article violated 3RR. I am not issuing a block because I believe you acted in good faith, but please remember that edit warring is only acceptable for the purpose of reverting simple vandalism. The edits made by that anonymous IP do not fall into that category - stubbornness, POV-pushing, and bold editing are specifically listed as not vandalism. Even anonymous editors are allowed to make bold, controversial edits; if you disagree with them, you will need to go through proper channels and avoid edit warring. Remember: There are no emergencies on Wikipedia. Kafziel Complaint Department 20:35, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Ah, crap. I thought the IP was inserting total silliness there, but apparently s/he had it referenced, and now I've got him blocked.
Also, which channels are these that you speak of? Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 20:41, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Even with IPs, you should seek some form of Dispute resolution. It's often as simple as asking for help at editor assistance or the village pump. Anyway, considering the anon tried switching IPs after the block to continue the edit war, I'd say the block on him was justified. I've semi-protected the article for 3 days, so hopefully we can get some discussion from him instead of more edit warring. Kafziel Complaint Department 20:47, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Re:About becoming a sysop

I can understand that; going back soon would not help matters. Just, some day, if you're interested again, I think you would potentially make a great admin. Of course, if this has put you off forever, then that's fair enough. J Milburn (talk) 21:32, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Back

Under a new heading...

A belated happy birthday!

Sorry, the last few weeks have been hectic! I've been either camping with the kids I look after on weekends, or helping my friends band play on their tour every night >.< So todays the first day I could get back online. Seems I have catching up to do.

Thanks for the birthday wishes =]

I just looked over your RFA, sorry it didn't work out! Don't take it to heart though. Really, the only thing I saw there was constructive critism, nothing you can't work with.

If you don't want admin coaching, that's fine. You don't have to have admin coaching to pass an RFA. If you don't even want to go for an RFA, thats fine too. Honestly, adminship is really, really overrated. You're doing the same thing you used to do, only more people want help, and you can do it a little easier. And lets face it: with rollback now available, theres only a few things admins can do that other users can't already.

Honestly, just take it in stride and you'll pass an RFA. I went through 3 editor reviews, I think, and a number of months before I even thought about adminship. It's more scrutinising than it should be, but that's the way it is. Well, reply to me soon about what you want to do.

Cheers- CattleGirl talk 10:11, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Meh, forget the stupid admin stuff. I tell ya, WP:RFA is a total battleground. I'll just stick to the only thing I can do well around here, and that's destroying so many vandals that Wannabe Kate will crash trying to count my contribs (okay, not really).
I have no clue what I want to do now, really. I already finished Adoption, I severed AdCo....now what? Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 13:09, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm with Keeper in your 2nd nom. I wouldn't completely rule out an RFA. I'd leave it a while, get some more experience in different areas of the wikipedia, learn more about adminship if you're interested. I'm still up to be your admin coach if thats what you want. Or, you could leave it alone completely, and that's fine too. Not everyone wants to be an admin.
Just don't get down! People aren't against you at all. They just don't think that now's the time for you to be promoted.
Um, things to do. First thoughts are to tackle backlogs. I'm probably going to go do a bit of that right now! Theres heaps to do over that way, and general fixing up and editing. I miss that. CattleGirl talk 09:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Summoners Guild

For now, nothing much (though it never hurts to try and get others to join) When the member count gets higher, then we might perform rituals to summon the great Spirit Editors (or something...) and rid the English Wikipedia of vandals, and their traces (or, something like that...) If you want to discuss the guild, a better place would be at the Guild's Talk Page. ^_^ Kogoro_9_23 09:53, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

nobots

nobots is a tag that you can put on your talk page so that bots will not edit it and leave you messages. I don't use it so I can't tell you that much more about it. Captain panda 21:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Warnings

Please avoid issuing multiple vandalism warnings at the same time as you did here. Warnings are not issued in a group for each act of previous vandalism, they are issued one at a time, with the next warning being issued if vandalism has continued after the previous version. Thanks TigerShark (talk) 22:39, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

No problem, although you might want to reconsider chastising people who go the the trouble of contacting you simply because they haven't followed your "ground rules". Posting to a user's talk page is the standard means of communication. Why have you decided to create a "mistakes" page? If somebody posts to that page do you get an orange bar? TigerShark (talk) 23:55, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
There is a definition here. I am still not clear why you want messages regarding mistakes on a different page. If it is because you don't want them visible on your talk page for other editors to see, then you are perfectly entitled to move them to a different page/archive. However, posting to user talk pages as the main mechanism for communication is well established and you really shouldn't expect people to have to work differently on your talk page. If they are happy to, fine. Personally, if I need to raise an issue to a user, I want to be confident that they actually get the message and get it in a timely manner. The only mechanism that gives me a reasonable amount of confidence is posting directly the talk page, so that I know the user will get the orange bar. TigerShark (talk) 03:54, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
