Yes, indeed - every image uploaded to wikipedia needs to have clear copyright information. When uploading, you will be prompted for an image copyright tag. If the image is copyrighted, you will need to provide a clear and compelling reason why the image can justifiably be used in wikipedia (known as fair use). The preference, however, is for pictures without a copyright, which are either created by yourself and released under a free-use license (preferable the GFDL), or are considered to be in the public domain.
