(Please reply here) Regarding that old query — I see you have started drafting a new list of characters... It might be needed at the speed some Wikipedians are clearing up characters (For instance here) You might also want to consider merging "the Blue Trio"...

I am currently trying to clean up WP:WAF; but it is a rather slow process, but it will give more detail to enhance articles when we are done. When that is done I will return to the list of media.

A suggestion: Consider updating the character list to table format, esp. for the minor characters. Here is an example of an idea that might work (without so many pictures, of course). G.A.S 15:31, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Hm... To think of it...
  • If the secondary characters' articles are merged, and the villains' articles are also merged, about a half of the character list in the main article will become useless and it'll be shortened again.
  • I seem to have some troubles with finding enough reliable sources, especially for the villain part of the character list...
  • I have no clue how to merge "The Blue Trio" properly. They were originally in one article, but it didn't really look good... Their roles in the story are too different. We're going to have to think how to organize this stuff better. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk 15:12, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
    We might get away with the villians list, at least in the short term, but otherwise it might be merged into the other list. A more logical split may be original TMM in one list, and all of the others in another list.
    According to WP:SS the main characters should also be mentioned in the list. Image:LinkFA-star.png List of Metal Gear Solid characters is a good example of how such a character list should look; they split recurring characters into a second list due to length.
    For optimal results, the character section in the main article should be in paragraph form, like Image:LinkFA-star.png Metal Gear Solid's characters section.
    I am not quite sure of the Blue trio myself though.

    By the above I did not mean the main characters should not have articles, just that the main characters should not be ommited from the list. In the example, Solid Snake has a section in the list, and {{main}} is used to link to his article. G.A.S 07:23, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I think I'll need some sort of a plan. Shame on me for abandoning my to-do list...

  • We already have a minor character list, which is in a more or less decent condition. Main characters can be added there, with links to their articles - this won't be hard.
  • We have a villain list, which can stay in a separate page or be eventually merged into the first list, in case it won't be able to reach the same quality.
  • We have the Mew Mews' articles that are currently in an extremely poor condition.
  • We have "The Blue Trio" - this is tricky, because they are technically one character (though their story was altered a bit in the anime, hence the last statement is disputable), and ideally they shouldn't be separated; the problem is that one of them is the main villain of the story, and the other two are supporting characters...
  • We have two PS videogame characters - one is an ally, one is a villain - not sure where to put them.
  • We also have the "Tokyo Black Cat Girl + Hime Azumi + Baku" set of articles - for merge.

Such amount of work does require careful planning. And, if you don't mind, I would prefer to move this discussion to the talk page of one of the sandboxes, because it looks like it is going to get long. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk 07:40, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

  • The spinoffs article is pretty much useless - this can go anywhere else: main article, list of media...
  • TBCG is just a one-chapter story - can be merged into something.

Indeed, it will be a lot of work, but at least some of that has already been prepared... TBCG is only one chapter!? And it has 3 articles!? Talk about overkill. G.A.S 10:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

The characters are currently more important - merging (which still requires planning, depending on the quality of the current lists - in terms of sources), cleaning up the main characters articles...

Agreed. Re: Planning: A good start would be cut and paste of content, followed by removal of unimportant information, rewriting from an out-of-universe perspective and finally copy-editing. G.A.S 11:02, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
