This is a list of seasons played by York City Football Club in English football, from 1922 (the year of the club's foundation) to the most recent completed season. This list details the club's achievements in all major competitions, and the top scorers for each season in the league.

The club was formed in 1922, and elected later that year to the Midland League.[1] They were elected to play in the Football League in 1929 and were placed in the Third Division North.[2] York reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in the 1954–55 season,[2] which is the furthest the club have ever reached in this competition.[3] They won the first promotion in their history in the 1958–59 season, after finishing third in the Fourth Division.[2] The club won its first and only title, the Fourth Division, in the 1983–84 season, with a record 101 points.[3][4] Their only play-off victory came in the 1992–93 season, when they beat Crewe Alexandra on penalties to win promotion to the Second Division.[2]
