[edit] Career
Wilkinson started his career at Hull City as an amateur, for whom he made eight appearances and scored three goals in the 1953–54 season.[2] He joined York City for a fee of just £10 in May 1954.[3][2] He scored twice on his debut in the 6–2 victory against Wrexham on the opening day of the 1954–55 season.[2]
He was apart of the team which played in the FA Cup semi-final in 1955.[4] Wilkinson is York's leading scorer with 143 goals.[2] He retired from league football in 1966 but continued on playing non-league football for Anfield Plain and also worked as a scout for York in the North-East.[3][2]
Norman still attends the occasional game at York City's ground.
