Yamato (Japanese: 大和市; -shi) is a city located in Kanagawa, Japan.
As of 2008, the city has an estimated population of 223,127 and the density of 8,250 persons per km². The total area is 27.06 km².

The city was established as a village in 1891, promoted to a town in 1943, and promoted to a city on February 1, 1959.
