I removed Pydory's contribution as it is not encyclopedia nor objective, but it makes a nice story.

Before Yakima went to Hollywood, for a time, he was foreman on my Grandfather's ranch at Walla-Walla, Washington. They used 100 mule teams to haul the combines around the rolling hills of South Eastern Washington. The mules were hitched shoulder to shoulder in a line. There were ten mule skinners for each team of 100 mules and they were under the direction of Yakima and my Grandfather, George A. Hale. My mother had pictures of her as a child sitting on Yakima's knees and also sitting on one of his silver saddles he won at one of the rodeos. I saw the pictures when I was child, but they have since been lost. My mother and I tried to get to see him when he was filming a John Wayne picture in Marin County, but were not allowed onto the set. I would liked to have met the man, I heard so many stories about him from my Mother and Grandmother. User:Pydory
