The World Series of Football is the name given to a friendly tournament held during the summer in the United States. Major League Soccer teams typically take part in this series, joining clubs from around the world.

The first tournament took place in the summer of 2005, with Chicago Fire, A.C. Milan, Chelsea F.C., and D.C. United participating. Venues included Soldier Field in Chicago, FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

[edit] 2007 Tournament
The tournament was revived on March 9, 2007, with the Los Angeles Galaxy announcing a new series of friendlies involving Chelsea, Tigres UANL and the Suwon Samsung Bluewings. All matches were played in July at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. Tigres UANL won the tournament by virtue of goal difference over Chelsea.
