[edit] Determination of the champion
The champion will be the winner of the World Chess Championship 2008 between current World Champion Viswanathan Anand, and former champion Vladimir Kramnik.
[edit] Determination of the challenger
The first qualification stage to become the challenger was the 2007 World Cup, won by Gata Kamsky.
Kamsky will face former FIDE World Champion Veselin Topalov in a match of eight games during the second half of 2008, and the winner of that match will be the challenger.[1]
On April 11, 2008, the Russian website chesspro.ru reported that the Topalov-Kamsky match will take place in Lviv, Ukraine, with a prize fund of $750,000.[2]
