Talk:World kidney day
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The World Kidney Day (WKD) is an international observance that aims to raise awareness about the heavy burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD). WKD is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF). The inaugural event against kidney disease kicked-off on Thursday, March 7, 2006, marking the second Thursday of March as the official World Kidney Day. Guided by the WKD Steering Committee – includes 4 members from both organizations – and a scientific advisory committee, WKD campaigns to inform and educate health policy-makers, people who are at highest risk of CKD, and the general public that kidney disease is common, harmful and treatable[1].
