[edit] Wings or McCartney?

The image says McCartney, the article says Wings.

If it was Wings, what's the source? Was this the last Wings single, or was it "Getting Closer" or something else? --kingboyk 16:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that it's on the CD of Back to the Egg, but that article says it was a McCartney solo single originally (as does the sleeve). I've updated this article accordingly. --kingboyk 16:01, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
This picture http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B000LZDKZQ/103-0666897-1373445?SubscriptionId=0R5G0QFF0TCA4WD8ZCR2 of the Jukebox 45 seems to indicate it wss Paul McCartney for "Wonderful Christmastime", with a B-Side of "Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reggae" by Wings. Making the original 45 - 'Paul McCartney & Wings'. But I'm pretty sure I can't REF an Amazon picture ;) 72.221.106.140 (talk) 06:26, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
NM, that red one is a 1994 reissue. Original 1979 Parlophone ebay just says Paul McCartney on both sides... Wonder why they did that... Fun Facts at http://www.jpgr.co.uk/r6029.html 72.221.106.140 (talk) 06:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia

I deleted the following, it can't be real.

"Trivia

In Japan, there have been numerous attempts to ban the "Wonderful Christmastime" due to the song being directly attributed to 143 separate cases of suicide. In 1987, one Osaka radio station reportedly played the track back-to-back for three days straight, in the lead up to Christmas. Tokyo Police Department reported 57 fatalities during the 1986-87 period alone. A Japanese government spokesman was popularly quoted as saying that "the syncopated synthesizer appears to send people scrambling for the fish knife."" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.72.182.248 (talk) 07:27, 5 December 2006 (UTC).

we should look into citing that tid bit.. its not beyond the realm of belief... I lived in japan for a couple of years, and they thrashed that song mercilessly, unbelievable rotation.. [honto harry]]

I can believe this story. That song is the worst christmas song of all time. Simply horrendous.204.191.232.209 03:34, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

If this was true, it would probably be more widely known. Googling for variations on "mccartney christmas suicide japan" doesn't turn up anything related except for people citing this article. ‣tregoweth (talk) 03:42, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Must have been a wind up. "the syncopated synthesizer appears to send people scrambling for the fish knife" sounds implausible as a government statement to me, more of a clever dig... --kingboyk 15:43, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Personnel

Do we know who the personnel were on this single? Or was it one of McCartney's one-man-band efforts? --kingboyk 15:44, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
