[edit] History

WIOI is best known for being the Top 40 rock station in Portsmouth during the 1960s and 1970s, when Chuck Maillet was the owner. Since then it changed hands a few times until 1996 when Chip and Mary Maillet, of Maillet Media, bought the station back from its previous owner. When Maillet Media bought the station it had an all talk radio format. In December 2000 the format was changed to "Music of Your Life", a Jones Radio Networks format. The community responded positively, especially from the folks age 50 plus.
