William Chard

William George Chard was born in Columbia County, New York in 1812. He traveled to Tehama County, California, in the 1840s being given one of the first land grants to Americans in Tehama County. He made several stops before reaching Tehama including New Mexico and Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Monterey. He married Maria Estevan Robles, a daughter of a prominent family in the area and he died September 19, 1877.
