[edit] Quick Facts
[edit] Personal History
I was born in Women's College Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Lived in the Beaches (Kew Beach, specifically), before moving to "North Toronto", near the Davisville subway station. Moved to Stratford, Ontario, and attended Stratford Central Secondary School. Returned to Toronto to study at Ryerson University. Now live in the Annex.
I'm the son of a jewish, German immigrant and a second generation Irish-Canadian. I have an older half-brother (of the same father) named Zakary, and a younger sister named Emily-Jean.
[edit] Politics
I'm a very staunch leftist. I believe in Democratic Socialism, and am an active member of the New Democratic Party of Canada. I actively campaigned for NDP candidates Robert Roth and Keith Dinicol for the federal riding of Perth—Wellington in the 2004 and 2006 federal elections, respectively. I continue to be a very passionate Canadian federalist and have been since attending the "Unity Rally" during the 1995 Quebec referendum. I considered studying Political Science at the University of Toronto or Carleton University in Ottawa.
I am a youth rights activist. I believe in the need for federal and provinicial electoral reform, lowering the voting age in Canada, and adopting a system of Mixed Member Proportional Representation for the Canadian House of Commons. I also believe in reform to provincial laws regulating the sale of alcohol in Ontario, i.e. adopting a more flexible, European model, rather than an absolute minimum age of purchase under any circumstance.
[edit] Comedy
Outside of politics, I have a huge fascination with stand-up comedy. I grew up listening to Bill Cosby albums, including Himself and Revenge, and watching shows such as Just for Laughs, Dennis Miller Live, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on The Comedy Network in Canada. Recently, I've found interest in the more cynical, sarcastic material of Dave Attell, Sean Rouse, and Doug Stanhope. I believes that the only good reality TV show was Last Comic Standing in it's first two seasons. After it's third season, the show lost touch with the culture of stand-up comedy, and became, essentially, just another reality TV show.
