[edit] Expansion of scope [Liechtenstein]

I have been bold and expanded the breadth of the project to include the neighboring state of Liechtenstein. It currently does not fall within the specific scope of any project, and I believe is closely enough related to Switzerland that it would fit comfortably here as well. Badbilltucker 15:01, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

One needs to look twice at the banner of all the Princes of Liechtenstein to see why they are tagged with the project banner (e.g. Talk:Prince Wenzeslaus of Liechtenstein). -- User:Docu
{{WikiProject European Microstates}} has now a Liechtenstein specific working group. Thus I removed "Liechtenstein" from {{WikiProject Switzerland}}. Settings for the new banner is, e.g. {{WikiProject European Microstates|class=B|importance=high|Liechtenstein=yes|nested=yes}}. -- User:Docu

[edit] Recent peer review on Switzerland

Just thought I'd post a link to the three-month old peer review of the article on Switzerland here It inludes a detailed list by another user and a link to an automated peer review. For what it's worth. ---Sluzzelin 05:46, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WW2

i would like to write a detailed, well-referenced article about Switzerland during WW2. the current ones are kind of strange.. 1 paragraph about the whole war and then 2 rather biased and unreferenced paragraphs about the Al D'Amato thing? where would be the best place to link a new article in?

--Bababoef 22:37, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

i put a general article on the main switzerland page, and made a separate article about the World Jewish Congress lawsuit. Bababoef 08:26, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adding page on lakes with dams and add more links to Dams in Switzerland?

In the French wikipedia there is a page which contains a list of lakes in Switzerland which have a dam ( Liste des lacs de barrage de Suisse ). I can and am willing to add this to the English wikipedia, but I would like to know if such a page is wanted in the English version?

Also a lot of lakes which have a dam don't note the existence of the dam at the moment, or don't have a page / redirect on the name of the dam. The fact that the lake has a dam could be added to the articles on the lakes, and a redirect could be made from the name of the dam.

(Category:Dams in Switzerland only has 2 links to dams, while some articles on lakes have information on their dam, but are not added in this category.

Is it an idea that I look in this things, or is it better not to do that? henkalex 15:14, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Sure, do go ahead, that would appear to be valuable additions to me. Sandstein 12:45, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bilateral relations discussion

I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:51, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Latin cultures

Hello everyone! You may want to go to Latin cultures an participate in the article and discussion. There are a lot of disputed statements... The Ogre 12:37, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Swabian War GA Sweeps Review: On Hold

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria. I'm specifically going over all of the "Conflicts, battles and military exercises" articles. I have reviewed Swabian War and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 23:09, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Berne

[edit] List of Cantons of Switzerland by highest point

I'd like to expand this (somewhat trivial) list to featured status. One of the many criteria to fulfill is that most, if not all, highest points listed should have articles (or at least stubs). If anyone is interested, the following still need articles:

Bös Fulen SZ de:Bös Fulen
Vanil Noir FR

How about List of highest points of the cantons of Switzerland as the title? The list is really about the peaks, not about the cantons, and it is ordered by height. Sandstein (talk) 08:47, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
It could be seen either way, but it's indeed a list of the peaks. Most lists in Category:Highest points use the suggested format. I would be ok with the proposed title. -- User:Docu

[edit] Ami Perrin

Yo, I just wrote the article on Ami Perrin, Genevan political and religious figure, without knowing anything about the subject beforehand. If someone could correct any glaring errors, it would be most appreciated! Skomorokh 18:44, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance

Hi, just for everyone's information, I had a meeting today with the officials responsible for this register. They're in the process of thoroughly revising it and making it accessible through a GIS web application by 2009 (so I'll stop importing info from the old 1995 register for now). They're interested in having some sort of collaboration with Wikipedia, such as cross-linking (yes, I told them we're a volunteer project, everything is subject to consensus and we can't guarantee anything, etc.). I've also indicated that it would be great if they could make their database of information and high-resolution images about historic and cultural sites in Switzerland available unter a CC-BY licence or similar, and they've expressed interest in the idea. I'll keep in touch with them. Best, Sandstein (talk) 16:02, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Any contribution on their side would obviously be welcome. They may want to provide lists of specific types of cultural property [1] with as much detail as possible. We could use those to build articles, stubs, and infoboxes. Some types lend themselves better for wikipedia articles than others.
Regrettable though that you stopped your project based on the 1995 inventory, as 2009 is still far away. -- User:Docu
Yes, I told them that we could use the list to build indices in the vein of ISOS, and individual files as sources for articles about the monuments. They told me that they would approximately double the number of A-class objects and de-list some. That's why I've stopped importing data from the 1995 register (which is available in dead-tree form only) so that we don't have to do everything all over again. Sandstein (talk) 15:33, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Draft Guidelines for Lists of companies by country - Feedback Requested

Within WikiProject Companies I am trying to establish guidelines for all Lists of companies by country, the implementation of which would hopefully ensure a minimum quality standard and level of consistency across all of these related but currently disparate articles. The ultimate goal is the improvement of these articles to Featured List status. As a WikiProject that currently has one of these lists within your scope, I would really appreciate your feedback! You can find the draft guidelines here. Thanks for your help as we look to build consensus and improve Wikipedia! - Richc80 (talk) 14:19, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Anières

I've noticed the template on Anières is a little screwy. As I'm not quite sure how to fix it, I thought I'd pass it to you lot. Cheers! JohnnyMrNinja 08:21, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Y Fixed, thanks.  Sandstein  08:37, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mass witch trial

Hello! I have found several claimants on the net about a mass witch trial, which is said to have happened in Geneva in 1515. 500 people is said to have ben burned in this trial. I don't know how true this is. The number could be exagerated. Does anyone here know about this? Or can you recomend an english speaking site? Switzerland is not well represtented in the subject here on wikipedia. --Aciram (talk) 17:49, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Jules Michelet mentions in his essay "La Sorciere", that in 1513, 500 witches where put to death in only three months by the bishop of Geneva. But on this german page it is written that there is no credible source which proves it. Momet (talk) 06:40, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Photo Requests?

Hi, I'll be in Switzerland starting this Sunday, June 15th and I was wondering if there was anything that possibly needs a photo. I'll mainly be in the north but will go into the high mountains for a few days. I'm already planning on taking stitched panoramic landscapes of Basel, Zürich, Bern and (if I make it there) of Geneva. I have a decent track record of getting of getting FPs (10 with an 11th on the way) so if there are any buildings or sights that are particularly visually appealing I'd love to have a go. Architecture that needs photos is of particular interest. Let me know. The more suggestions the better, as I will be able to make it to certain areas during the best light. Cheers -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 05:08, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for your message! There is indeed a lot of architecture in Switzerland that needs good photos. The Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance lists in its category A some 1,800 heritage sites of national significance that are considered the most significant, historically or otherwise. If you would like to take photographs of notable sites while in Switzerland, I think that list would provide a good selection of sites to choose from. Unfortunately, it exists only in printed form, but if you would like to, I can e-mail you scans of the pages corresponding to the municipalities that you intend to visit. I've also begun to write these places up in Wikipedia, but I've stopped for now because the government intends to revise the inventory in 2009.  Sandstein  05:46, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
That would be great. Probably the best would be if you could wanted the pages on Zurich, Bern, Basel, Geneva, and Lucerne. You could point out ones of particular importance. Of course this is if it isn't too much trouble. my email address is on my user page. Thanks -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 15:50, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lake Parade

Hi! I just came across this article in the backlog for unclear notability. It appears that the parade is actually notable but most of the sources I found (see link on talk) are in French and I'm not comfortable enough in French to do it. Wanted to give you guys the heads up in case someone is more familiar with the parade and or wanted to expand it. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 15:55, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

For what it's worth, I'm Swiss and I read French, and I can confirm that the linked articles do confirm notability. They are by regional and national media covering various instances of this festival. It's on the order of several 100'000 participants and ten years' history, so, pretty big thing, if rather silly.  Sandstein  23:12, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
