[edit] Permission to use?
Whom should I contact to use the Wikipedia logo in my high school newspaper? We're planning on doing a feature on Wikipedia's validity as a source in classrooms.
Thanks, --Bestskeptic 19:50, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- See foundation:Wikimedia visual identity guidelines.--24.20.69.240 19:30, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] IPA
How do I find an "IPA" pronunciation for any word? In other words, where do I type the word so that I locate the IPA pronunciation for the word?
Thanks
- Um... a dictionary? Wiktionary?
- Anyway, this is most definitely not the best place to ask this question. Go to the IPA article or something. BirdValiant 05:05, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia Logo is not Free
I wanted to make wikipedia t-shirts for personal use and to distribute to friends, but was told this is not allowed. Why do they have the logo rights when we contribute? William sharkey 08:45, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Because if they let just anyone take the logo, the trademark would everywhere and it would no longer represent Wikipedia the way it should. If you permisssion to violate the Wikimedia visual identity guidelines contact Jimbo Wales. Tcrow777 talk 21:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Error in the image(?)
Instead of ウィ, ワィ has been written on the image. This is funny since ウィ means wi, and I have no clue how ワィ (wa plus a small i) is pronounced (waa maybe?). Waakipedia?
Is this correct? Should it be ウィ (wi) instead of ワィ (wai/waa)? --TonyM キタ━( °∀° )━ッ!! 17:01, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Puzzling
I'm just wondering, what does the missing jigsaw peices represent?Chwoka
Maybe it's that Wikipedia is always a work in progress. BirdValiant 23:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of links
My user page is not on the list of pages that link to the image, but the logo is in multiple places on my user page. I want my page to be known as a page that links to the logo image! Someone get my page on there please! Powerfulmind 17:19, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Chinese character is not correct.
The picture is amazing, though I found the Chininese character is incorrect. The correct writing should be "祖". If you pay a close attention, you will see the one on the "globe" has an extra stroke. --Natasha2006 14:14, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Globe Logo
Why is it that on this globe, the Wikipedia Globe Logo features a backwards "Ñ" on one of the puzzle pieces, yet on the multi-lingual page that links to every Wikipedia, the И does not have a tilde? --Ye Olde Luke 00:19, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- И is the letter in the Cyrillic alphabet that is like "i" in the Latin alphabet, and is pronounced like [i]. Й, or и краткое in Russian, is like "Y" in the Latin alphabet, is pronounced like [j].
- You'd think that И would be used, since it would be like the I part of Wikipedia. Oh well. BirdValiant (talk) 21:09, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] External use
I've already read foundation:Wikimedia visual identity guidelines, but it wasn't very clear on this issue... I'm wondering if I can use the Wikipedia, Meta, and Commons logos on an external wiki to illustrate templates used to identify content taken from these respective sites. If I'm not allowed to just copy the logos for this purpose, who would I contact? Jimbo Wales? The Wikimedia Foundation? Or someone else? --Dinoguy1000 22:30, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] If this is in commons, how come the link isn't red?
--IslaamMaged126 (talk) 19:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- It is definately from the commons - the location of images is http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/63/Wikipedia-logo.png which clearly shows the fact it is hosted on the commons. // F9T 05:33, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Errors
Okay, I've looked at this for a while now and I see there are very clear errors. There should be an apostrophe beside the Omega (Ώ not Ω, and there are additionally errors with the Ñ 祖 ウィ characters. Perhaps I will update the logo in Photoshop. Agree? Disagree? Isn't this 'diluting' Wikipedia by improperly representing them?--Tkgd2007 (talk) 07:03, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- You should go change it. I know that the Chinese one is wrong, but I am hopelessly illiterate in those other languages. Remember, be bold. If an administrator wants to change it back, then they'll do it. --haha169 (talk) 00:05, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Also, please change the devanagari character to 'वि'. It is wrongly rendered. But doesn't get a notice untill someone comes to this page. Regards, --Kaustubh (talk) 07:29, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Why isn't it an SVG?
This is one of the most important images on Wikipedia - shouldn't it be SVG-ified? It Is Me Here (talk) 17:07, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
