Wenquan, Tibet

Wenquan is a village in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, just north of the Tanggula Pass and holds the record for being the highest town in the world at 5,100 m (16,732 ft). It was built by the Chinese in 1955.[1]

Population within a 7 km radius is about 546.
