WELH is owned by The Wheeler School of Providence, Rhode Island. Its main studio is located on school grounds: 216 Hope St. in Providence. Originally with a modern rock format with student D.J.s known as "Extreme 88", today WELH broadcasts programming in 3 distinct blocks. The first is leased Spanish-language from 05:00-Noon Eastern Time. Secondly the station plays a mixture of oldies & funk between Noon-19:00. Finally, Brown University's Brown Student Radio airs programming from 19:00-05:00.

Brown Student Radio is a freeform, student- and community-radio station in Providence, Rhode Island currently broadcasting on 88.1 FM, WELH Providence and streaming on http://www.bsrlive.com. It grew out of WBRU-AM in 1997 as a noncommercial and educational alternative for students at Brown University, and in 2003 it became a joint student-community radio station.

An original partner in WELH, R.I.C. broadcast mainly on Sundays. According to their website they still do from 09:00-Midnight, however this time is now filled by Spanish until Noon & an Italian block from Noon-19:00.
