Communities

Webster Avenue begins a large intersection with four roads including Melrose Avenue and East 165th Street.[1] Webster begins in a northward direction, parallelling the Metro-North railroad tracks and Brook Avenue, one of the roads present at the terminus. At .2 of a mile, East 167th Street intersects Webster. At this intersection, East 167th goes from a two-way road to a one-way going westward. At Claremont Parkway, the parallel Brook Avenue comes to an end and Webster continues north. At 1.2 miles, the Cross Bronx Expressway interchanges with Webster. East Tremont Avenue intersects soon after in the eastern section of Tremont. Most of the southern half of Webster Avenue is concurrent with U.S. Route 1.

Webster continues, entering the eastern portion of Fordham.[1] In Fordham, a large intersection is reached by Webster. Streets present at this intersection include Webster, Decatur Avenue, East Fordham Road, and the nearby Third Avenue. Decatur Avenue parallels Webster as both roads continue north. Bedford Park Boulevard intersects in Bedford Park as Webster heads towards Woodlawn. Soon after the intersection with Bedford Park Boulevard, the Mosholu Parkway crosses over Webster. As Webster enters Woodlawn, Gun Hill Road intersects. Now parallel to the Bronx River Parkway, Webster intersects with East 233rd Street.

Webster comes to an end at Nereid Avenue and East 240th Street in northern Woodlawn. The road Webster follows continues as Bronx River Road.

[edit] History

[edit] Transportation

There is no subway stations located along the whole length of Webster Avenue. However the nearby streets, Jerome Avenue, Grand Concourse and White Plains Road have station serving the 2, 4, 5, B, and D trains.[3][4][5] There are 3 bus lines along parts of Webster Avenue, the Bx31, Bx41 and Bx55 lines. They replaced the Webster and White Plains Avenues Line.[6]
