[edit] Landmarks?
Maybe a better name would be Memorials of DC. I would definitely not consider all of these memorials to be recognizable enough to be considered landmarks. Also, very notable buildings are considered landmarks, but I hardly see any listed here. What about the Capitol building? It should be one of the top five landmarks in DC if not number one (Washington Monument could be number one too). I would have the top couple of DC Landmarks be:
Washington Monument
- US Capitol
- Whitehouse
- Lincoln Memorial
- Jefferson Memorial
followed by in no particular order:
- FBI building (J Edgar Hoover Building)
- Smithsonian Museums:
- Air and Space
- Natural History
- The Castle (Smithsonian Instituiton Building)
- American History
- National Gallery of Art West and East buildings
- National Archives
- World War II Memorial
- Vietnam Memorial
- National Cathedral
- Old Executive Office Building
- Holocaust Museum
- Old Post Office Building
