The station was assigned the call letters WLRX on 1981-08-03. On 1986-06-01, the station changed its call sign to WESZ, on 1994-11-15 to WWTE, on 1996-09-16 to WYXY, on 2001-02-19 to WMHX, and on 2005-04-08 to the current WABZ.[2]
