Val Schier

On March 15, 2008, Valerie Jean Schier was elected Mayor of Cairns in the newly amalgamated Cairns Regional Council [1][2]

Val grew up in a small village on the north east coast of Tasmania called Falmouth[3]. She moved to Cairns in 1982[3] and bought a house at Machans Beach in 1984[4].
