Vågsøy is a municipality in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
Vågsøy was created as a new municipality January 1, 1964 - after the merger of Nord-Vågsøy and Sør-Vågsøy.
Vågsøy is made up of the mainland and islands on the northern and outer shore of the Nordfjord and borders Møre og Romsdal county and Selje, Eid and Bremanger municipalities. The municipality is named after its largest island.
Vågsøy is also the name of the main island in the municipality with 64 km².
The municipality's administrative center is the town Måløy.
The municipality is the largest port of fisheries in Norway measured in landed quantity.
In 2007 Vågsøy participated in a trial where the mayor was directly elected. The sitting mayor, Roger B. Silden, received 44,1% of the votes and won the election. His party Labour did poorer then in 2003 and became the second largest party with 21,8 % of the votes.

The Norse form of the name was Vágsøy. The first element is the genitive case of vágr m 'bay', the last element is øy f 'island'.
